What a brilliant game that was! Another history has been created!

Just two months after stunning the world by clinching gold at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, Thinaah and Pearly created history again by winning the French Open at the Stade Pierre de Coubertine in Paris yesterday.

Thinaah’s last hit in the final match marked the victory for our national badminton duo. They extraordinarily sealed the win by clinching the French Open title. Thinaah-Pearly claim this big win after a nail-biting match with the two-time world champion Mayu Matsumoto-Wakana Nagahara in the final, scoring 21-19, 18-21, 21-15.

During the final match, the Malaysian world No. 11 pair displayed great fighting spirit and composure against their more experienced opponents to come away with the well-deserved win.

Speaking about their excellent triumph, Thinaah said “We are really happy that we can play until this level and we want to keep improving ourselves as there are still room for improvement.”

This is the biggest title win in the duo’s career and second in World Tour competitions after lifting the Swiss Open in March last year.

A big laud to this shuttlers for showcasing their best game throughout this French Open tournament. Not only the commentator kept on praising and lauding these duo’s skill but the entire netizens were astounded seeing their marvellous improvement.

Congratulations Thinaah-Pearly for this big win and thank you for making our country proud!
