A night that served all music enthusiasts with a surreal atmosphere, surprises, and an overall nostalgic appeal.
Spearheaded by Pitch Perfect, the team proved that even though this is their debut concert; ‘Return Of The Legends’ which was held over the weekend on 26th November 2022 at Pasir Gudang Indoor Stadium, Johor Bahru was a banger and the talk of the town.
Return Of The Legends featured three legendary Malaysian performers, YOGI B & NATCHATRA, BRAHMA KASHMIR STONE, and LOCK UP WITH MISTA G alongside some surprise acts.
The very first concert in JB was overflowing with golden – nostalgic moments and was attended by over 2000 concertgoers. During the registration, one of the brand partners, Vaadi Organics gave away 100 goodie bags with products for the first 100 wristband redemptions.
The almost 4-hour-long concert was hosted by two gorgeous ladies, the stunning TV personality, Revathy Mariappan and the fantastic actress, Pashini Sivakumar.
Fun fact: Return of The Legends was Johor Bahru‘s First-Ever Tamil concert.
The OGs literally ruled the stage!
DJ Nexto & DJ Jay Pay Tribute to all Malaysian Artistes
DJ Nexto and DJ Jay have always exceeded our expectations!
Despite being the day’s opening act, this excellent DJ duo were impeccable and synchronized perfectly. Shuffling tunes by Malaysian musicians from their older hit songs to more recent, popular tracks, they created an incredible atmosphere before the concert officially began.
Indeed a great start to the show!
The Surprise Opening Performance By Legendary Samba Kings, Darkkey and Elan from The Keys was Rousing
As I said, it was a really baffling surprise act as the organizer only revealed this act one day before the concert. With the countdown timer on the screens chaperoned by the concertgoers lauding, this duo made a fiery entry and wrecked the stage by performing power-packed songs “Adiva Adiva” and “Akkamage”. The crowd went wild dancing and cheering throughout their set. No doubt, there is no one who can beat their level of energy and ferocity.
Our Forever Samba Kings!
Lock Up & Mista G, Music Icons of the 90’s Kid – Initiated the Gig Zealously With Unbridled Passion For Music
Lock Up; Nathan, Xavier, Sri Ram, Switche, Victor, Mathan & Mista G’s entry on the stage caused a huge cheer from the audience. They sang a number of their evergreen tracks namely La La La, Sinnaanna Periyanna, Ring Ting Ting, Dappi Dappi, Kaatrey among others. A point to note is also that everyone looked very synchronized and stunning on the stage, thanks to their designer outfits from Zobha. They wrapped up their gig with the most awaited hit track by concertgoers, which is still ruling everyone’s playlist – Kokkorokko.
In front of the stage at the Rock Zone area, everyone seemed to be having the time of their lives while enjoying the performance, they made us ‘Joget’ along. Not forgetting, a special mention to the entire band as they performed with a bombastic charisma delivering hit after hit after hit throughout the night.
The Father of Lock Up Made A Surprise Appearance
The Return Of The Legends was a special stage for Lock Up as for the very first time, they openly introduced the founder of the band to the world, Mr Augustine Amaladass. It was a heartwarming moment as they were seen appreciating and giving a special tribute to the founder on their stage comeback after more than a decade.
Yogi B & Natchatra, The Hip Hop Masters Showered The Audience With Electrifying Performance
The 13-year-long wait is over.
Yogi B and Natchatra; Emcee Jesz and Dr Burn, the pioneers of Malaysian Tamil Hip Hop, came together, stamping their first-ever comeback at this Return Of The Legends stage. (All hail to the concert organizer for making the 90’s kids’ dream happen). The grand entry that they made erupted in a cheering ‘volcano’from all the concertgoers. They kickstarted their set energetically by performing their tracks Vallavan namely Hip Hop Era, Vaa Vaa, Mov’ Dat, Indian Girls and a few more great hits. Apart from performing their own tracks, they also sang Kollywood songs they were involved in like Thalapathy’s Happy New Year and Thala’s Surviva. Such a proud moment.
Now tell me, what is Yogi B & Natchatra’s gig without their world-famous ‘Madai Thiranthu’? As the saying goes, keep the best for last, and yes they did exactly that. They wrapped up the performance with this song along with Mista G on stage. The entire act was eye-pleasing too with all the dancers coming togethe with DJ Nexto and DJ Jay on the decks, it was genuinely an excellent way to cap off their set.
Yogi B, Mista G and KG Astounding Solo Performance
In addition to the rain of numerous bands presenting their best performances, we also got to witness some marvellous solo performances. Yogi B performed Surviva dynamically, Mista G sang Symphony Nilave and then these two stars joined hands together to perform the ‘Engeyum Eppothum’ which was initially sung by the late singer S P Balasubramanyam sir.
Emcee Jesz aka Kavithai Gundar took over the centre stage with Rap Porkalam S2 Champ, OG Bangerz. They conquered the stage singing a few peppy Hip Hop songs together such as his own song BadBoy, Makkah, Irumugam Settai and Thanni Kudi.
Kavithai Gundar has always been supportive towards emerging talent, ended his solo performance with OG Bangerz by saying “Generously support all the upcoming-budding artists and make them reach greater heights,”
Brahma Kashmir Stone, The Epitome of Malaysian Tamil Rock Metal Took Over The Entire Stadium
Brahma Kashmir Stone and his band offered a surreal and bizarre live experience!
Even before they put their feet on the stage, the concertgoers started to chant loudly~ (Brahma Kashmir! Brahma Kashmir! Brahma Kashmir!)
Chaperoning the chanting voice of the audience, Brahma Kashmir Stone with his band entered and wrecked the stage with their power-packed rock music. They set the stage on fire with their terrifying, immense and all-around great stage performance.
Among the songs that they performed were Malaysia Makkal, Dhevathai and the cult hit track that everyone was screaming for, Mangga Thoppu. It was LIT. Another element that kept everyone hooked on BKS was the BAND. The guitarists and drummer were all in trance mode. They engulfed the crowd with their heavy-rock music and irresistible stage presence to the point that they really turned some of them into metalheads.
Undoubtedly, Brahma Kashmir Stone made an indelible mark on many; fans will remember this rock and roll experience for a very long time.

The writer has attended many concerts that happened throughout the year, and the stage set up for the ROTL concert was one of a kind. Multiple luminous LED Screens shielding & surrounding the Rock Zone with compelling visuals was absolutely unique and simply stunning. And even the LED Screen setup that covered the entire stage was DOPE.

Bravo to the Technical Curation team from RK Projects & Tech Solutions and Official Technical Partner, Team Sound & Light for bringing the whole new and unforgettable production to life
The Dancers were Outstanding
All the dancers who performed alongside the artistes were on fire.
The girls from BollyOn led by talented Herrvena, the new school hip hop crew Boogie Base from Singapore and break dancers from the Wakaka crew dominated the show with their enticing dance moves. It was eye pleasing when JB based Bharathanatyam dancer Aswirni performed a semi traditional stint for the Indian Girls song. Kudos!
The FANS were in full-on oomph from the start to finish
Big shout out to everyone who attended the ROTL concert. The passionate clapping and cheers, as well as their ability to maintain the same high-energy level of enthusiasm from 7pm till the end of the performances, was simply awesome. The concertgoers lived the moments thoroughly from the beginning til the end of the show.

Kudos Pitch Perfect team for all of their efforts and commitment leading up to this remarkable event.
