Track star Shereen Samson Vallabouy never fails to set and break records and this year she’s got it again.

Sheeran’s record-breaking this time was clocking 52.87 seconds to win the 400m gold at the Lewis Invitational (indoor) in Illinois, Chicago, on February 3. Her previous national indoor record was 53.47s which she had set at the Bearson Gathje Classics in Minnesota last month January 13.

Taking this feat to her social media platform, Shereen shared her record and received many overwhelming comments from the public. Her Instagram post quoted “had a great experience running my first meet on a banked track! Broke my 53s barrier with a 52.87s, I’ll take it for now”.

According to the Vibes, Perak Athletics Association president Datuk Karim Ibrahim said it would not be impossible for the 24-year-old sprinter to deliver two gold medals at the Cambodia SEA Games in May – 200m and 400m events. Based on her progression, we are looking forward to seeing Shereen participate in the Cambodia SEA Games.

Shereen’s next target is to finish on the podium in the 400m at the Phnom Penh Sea Games which will be held from the 5th to the 17th of May 2023.

“If she can dip under the 52s mark, it means she is capable of running within 51s. With that timing, surely she can win the gold medal at the SEA Games”, added Karim.

Who is Shereen?

  • Shereen is the daughter of former national 800m runner Samson Vallabouy and Josephine Mary, who is a former Asian Games 400m medallist.
  • She is currently pursuing her degree in recreation and tourism at Winona State University in Minnesota.
  • 25-year-old Ipoh-born  Sheereen is a United States-based sprinter.
  • Check out more on Shereen’s achievements here (1,2,3)

This is also the third time Shereen has broken the national record within the space of 12 months. Congratulations on the record-breaking and good luck in the SEA Games Shereen Samson.
