The film industry is in shock and devastated by the passing of veteran actor-director Manobala. The 69-year-old breathed his last on May 3 at a hospital in Chennai. He was reportedly admitted to the hospital due to liver-related problems for the past two weeks.
Did you know Manobala directed many films in the 80s and 90s, with some garnering box-office hits?
Yes. With over 35 years of entertaining everyone, this popular comedian began his career as an assistant to the famous director Bharathiraja and then transitioned to directing, producing blockbuster films like Pillai Nila, Oorkavalan (starring Superstar Rajinikanth), En Purushanthaan Enakku Mattumthaan, Pillai Nila, Paarambariyam, Nandhini, Naina and more notable films.
He rose to fame as a comedy actor in the early 2000s because of his lanky build and unique speech delivery. In films like Pithamagan, Kakki Sattai, Chandramukhi, Yaaradi Nee Mohini, Minsara Kanna, Thamizh Padam, Alex Pandian, Siruthai, Aranmanai, Aadhavan, and Aambala, he contributed to some of the most memorable comedic scenes.
So far, he has appeared in nearly 700 films. His work with renowned comedy actors like Vivek, Vadivelu, and Santhanam remains unforgettable to this day.
