D Imman, a name that needs no introduction.
Born Immanuel Vasanth Dinakaran, with the stage name D Imman, this 40-year-old brilliant music composer is well-known in the Tamil cinema industry for his remarkable work. He is an amazing music director and has also been a great exemplary human being for everyone.
Today, let’s delve into and reminisce about D Imman’s 21-year musical journey in showbiz:
The first film that marked the beginning of his career as a music director was Thalapathy Vijay’s Thamizhan movie in 2002.
Prior to beginning his work as a music composer, at age 15, D Imman started working on music for films while studying under music composers Mahesh Mahadevan and Adithyan, assisting with the keyboard. Kutty Padmini, a television series producer, took notice of his work during this time and offered him the chance to work on the theme song and background music for the drama Krishnadasi, which debuted in 2000. Subsequently, he receives more chances to compose music for Mandhira Vaasal, Kolangal, and Police Diary. Upon his great work delivery, Padmini offered him to score music and compose songs for his debut feature film, Kaadhale Swasam, which features Karthik and Meena.
Following the big success of his first film, Thamizhan, D Imman continues to show his prowesses in music by composing hit albums for movies like Whistle, Giri, Aanai, Vathiyar, Kovai Brothers, Rendu, Thiruvilayadal Arambam, Maasilamani, Marudhamalai, Kacheri Arambam and more.
TRIVIA: D Imman is appointed as the Ambassador for Tamil Chair in University Of Toronto, Canada (2019).
The singer-composer then rose to peak in his career when he created magic through his Mynaa movie album. With his captivating melodic and peppy music composition for the film Kumki (2012), it garnered him a big accolade when he received the Best Music Director at the Tamil Nadu State Film Awards, The Filmfare Awards, Ananda Vikitan Cinema Awards, Norway Tamil Film Festival Awards, Vijay Award and many more.
His musical work received more recognition worldwide with hit albums like Kumki, Kayal, Jeeva, Pandianadu, Jilla, Viswasam, Manam Kothi Paravai, Annaatthe, Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam, Rajinimurugan, Seemaraj, Namma Veettu Pillai, Teddy, Kaari, DSP, Captain, and more.
TRIVIA: In 2021, was awarded the Kalaimamani award by the Government of Indian state Tamil Nadu.
One of his most notable works in the Tamil film industry is Viswasam. Through this film, he brought back numerous glories such as Favourite Music Director, Favourite Song, Best Playback Singer Male & Best Lyricist at the Zee Cine Tamil Awards, National Film Award for Best Music Direction, and Siima Award For Best Music Director.
Apart from this, D Imman is also known for his generous heart, as he always introduces many talents as playback singers by giving them a chance in his compositions without any discrimination as to who or where they are.
