Lokesh Kanagaraj Says He Will Quit After Directing 10 Films

Lokesh Kanagaraj is one of the leading film director, in kollywood film industry. He has reached heights with minimal number of movies. Every movie directed by him was a blockbuster hit. Lokesh has rapidly established himself as one of the most promising directors of his generation. He is known for his distinctive storytelling style, painstaking attention to detail, and capacity to produce powerful and captivating narratives. With a remarkable knack for delivering compelling films across various genres, he has garnered a loyal fan base and critical acclaim within a short span of time.

He developed a passion for films at an early age and was deeply influenced by renowned filmmakers like Mani Ratnam and Christopher Nolan. He actively participated in numerous short film contests while he was a student, demonstrating his talent and developing his craft as a director. His entry into the Tamil film industry was made possible by insiders’ recognition of his talent and perseverance.

Lokesh made his directorial debut in 2016, with the highly acclaimed short film ‘Kaatchipizhai’. The film was well-received for its accurate depiction of the difficulties experienced by young people. His first short film’s popularity gave him access to the Tamil film industry. Lokesh made his feature film debut in 2019 with “Maanagaram,” a compelling urban thriller. Potential Studios produced the film, which was a commercial success and received positive reviews from reviewers and audiences alike. “Maanagaram” demonstrated Lokesh’s ability to manage complex narratives as well as his ability to create intense and gripping moments. Numerous awards were bestowed upon the film, including the prestigious Filmfare Award for Best Director in Tamil.

After the success of “Maanagaram,” Lokesh teamed up with actor Karthi for his second film, “Kaithi” (2019). The action thriller centred on a newly released prisoner on a mission to save police officers from a violent drug cartel. “Kaithi” was hailed for its high-octane action sequences, intriguing narrative, and Karthi’s outstanding acting. The film was a huge success, cementing Lokesh’s reputation as a promising director in the industry.

In 2021, Lokesh Kanagaraj directed “Master,” a highly anticipated film starring Vijay and Vijay Sethupathi. “Master” was one of the most anticipated releases of the year, and it generated a lot of excitement among the fans. The action-packed drama explored the clash between a charismatic professor and a ruthless gangster within the backdrop of an educational institution. Despite multiple delays owing to the COVID-19 outbreak, the film received a massive response and broke several box office records. It went on to become one of the highest-grossing Tamil films of all time, cementing Lokesh’s reputation as a successful filmmaker.

Followed by that, Lokesh Kanagaraj’s recent movie was “Vikram” in 2022 starring Kamal Haasan, Vijay Sethupathi, Fahadh Faasil and many more. A high-octane action movie in which a special investigator is assigned to a case of serial killings. He discovers that the case is not what it appears to be and that continuing down this path can only result in a war between everyone involved. ‘Vikram’ had connections with ‘Kaithi’ movie. That was also a blockbuster hit. With this, Lokesh Kanagaraj was one of the prominent director who directed movies which turned as blockbuster hits since the beginning of his career.

Next, he has joined hands with Thalapathy again for ‘Leo’. ‘Leo’ is currently progressing with shooting. This movie also features Trisha, Priya Anand, Gautham Vasudev Menon, S.J Suryah and many more. First single and first look of the movie has been released yesterday in conjunction with Vijay’s birthday. The song ‘Naa Ready’ has been receiving massive celebration among the fans. The movie is set to hit the big screens on 19th October 2023. It is expected to be another hit film by Lokesh.

Lokesh Kanagaraj has established himself as one of the most skilled and prospective directors in the Kollywood industry, with an amazing track record and a growing fan base. Film fans and spectators are excited for his upcoming projects, anticipating more groundbreaking and fascinating cinema from this great filmmaker.

At this moment, the visionary director who created the Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU) has announced that he may retire from filmmaking entirely after directing a total of ten films. Lokesh stated in an interview with SS Music that he entered the profession solely to try his hand at filmmaking. In response to a question regarding his future intentions, Lokesh stated, “I don’t have plans to do a lot of films in my career. When I first started out in the profession, all I wanted to do was experiment with filmmaking. I just want to make films within LCU. I want to live up to LCU fans’ expectations. I’ll make ten films and then quit.” He expressed gratitude to his producers and cast for allowing him to construct a cinematic universe, saying, “It’s not an easy task. It is loaded with problems. I’m not in a rush. I want to manage things carefully and make quality films.” The clip has gone viral on all social media platforms. Fans are shocked upon hearing to his statement. Most of them are wondering if this is for real. Let’s wait and see what happens! With this announcement Director Lokesh Kanagaraj has added anticipation towards ‘Leo’, his upcoming project.
