Thalapathy Vijay’s much-anticipated film Leo has gotten into a bit of controversy in recent days. The film had just recently released its first single, titled Naa Ready. The song featured the star with lyrics that promoted smoking and drinking. Additionally, the poster for the song had the famed actor with a gun in his hand while a cigar lay on his lips, and the background image showed glass mugs, presumably filled with alcohol, being hoisted in the air. These actions have prompted a police report to be lodged against him under the Narcotics Control Act.
It has been expressed that Vijay was being hypocritical with this action, as it goes against what he preached recently to young students. In the recent education ceremony conducted by Vijay Makkal Eyakkam, the actor stressed that more than academic education, it is the character of an individual that determines one’s worth. Some pointed out that for a man of his stature to be seen drinking and smoking is a display of bad characteristics. Comments state that the actor, with his influence, should be guiding his young fans towards a more disciplined and drug-free lifestyle.
On the other end, Vijay fans have expressed that this police report is only giving free publicity to the actor and the film. This Lokesh Kanagaraj creation is already a highly anticipated movie, with fans eagerly waiting for new updates by the minute. This will be Lokesh Kanagaraj’s second film with Thalapathy Vijay after the massive success of Master. The film will also see the reunion of the evergreen pair, Vijay and Trisha, after 14 years. The two have been romantic partners in some of the most classic Tamil films, like Ghilli, Thirupaachi, and Aadhi. Leo will also feature other amazing actors such as Gautham Vasudev Menon, Arjun Sarja, Mysskin, Priya Anand, Mansoor Ali Khan, Matthew Thomas, and many more. The film is set for theatrical release on October 19, 2023.
