Lord Hanuman, also known as Anjaneya, is one of the most revered and prominent deities in Hindu mythology. He is considered a divine monkey-like figure with immense strength, wisdom, and devotion. Lord Hanuman holds a special place in the hearts of millions of Hindus worldwide and is worshipped for his extraordinary qualities and his role in the epic Ramayana.
Hanuman played a crucial role in the Ramayana, an ancient Hindu epic that narrates the life and adventures of Lord Rama. Hanuman’s most notable feat was helping Lord Rama rescue his wife, Sita, from the demon king Ravana. Hanuman’s unwavering loyalty, bravery, and strength were instrumental in the victory of good over evil. He possessed many extraordinary abilities, including the power to fly, change his size at will, and possess great physical strength. Lord Hanuman often appears as a monkey-faced deity, standing or kneeling with a gada in one hand and a mountain or the Sanjeevi herb in the other. He is depicted as having a muscular body and a long tail. Hanuman is frequently represented in orange or reddish colours, representing his devotion and power.
Among many famous temples of Hanuman in Malaysia, Sree Veera Hanuman Temple which is located at Scott Road, Brickfields is well known among Malaysians. This temple was established in 1942 near KL Sentral Monorail station. Due to the development of the station, the temple was shifted to current place which is at Scott road in 1999. MR Suresh, the Chairman of the temple has designed the temple based on the stories he heard since he was young. MR Suresh who was graduated in Engineering stated that he was the one designed most of the sculptures and pillars. He went to few countries during that period, to gather more information and ideas about Hanuman. He took almost five years to complete the just design of the temple.
Behold, a temple that defies human imagination rises from the ethereal tapestry of architectural wonders. This temple stands majestically, its splendid front showered in the golden rays of the sun’s touch, unfolding like an exquisite composition of shape and proportion. Its walls, artistically carved from the finest stones, stretch skyward, forming a magnificent entrance that invites heaven to gaze in awe. There is no pillars in between the path way of the temple because this temple is built based on the concept of a palace.
We can explore Hanuman statue from different countries in this temple. MR Suresh took the initiative to gather the variety of statues. We could see statues even from Bali. The unique fact in this temple is the long green colour tail of a Hanuman statue which could surround the tower of the temple (Gopuram). The tail monument, the only one in the world, stands 17 feet tall and is made up of 41 coils. It will be the highest structure in Southeast Asia. The extravagant murals on the ceilings are hand-drawn by Indian artists. They illustrate Hanuman’s life journey. We can view spectacular drawing of Hanuman which is very realistic along with stories on the ceiling.
People believe that those who are affected by black magic could be cured if they visit and pray to the Hanuman in this temple. Hanuman will get rid off the bad energy which influence them. People also feel and have a strong belief that Hanuman is there to protect them. The Chairman of the temple stated that once there was a Malay lorry driver told him that he saw a huge monkey-looking warrior, when he passed by the road around 2am. This incident justifies the belief of the people.
The temple will be crowded especially on Thursdays and Saturdays. Deep within the heart of this architectural marvel lies the sanctum sanctorum, a sacred chamber where the divine presence seems to manifest itself in palpable radiance. The Hanuman temple, a manifestation of great beauty and spiritual devotion, is a tribute to human creativity and its perpetual interest for transcendence. It is a sanctuary where mortal hearts converse with the divine, and it stands as an eternal witness to the indomitable spirit of those who dare to dream and aspire to divine heights.
