The long wait is finally over. DMY Creation recently announced Malaysia’s first-ever dance concert featuring the dance king himself Prabhu Deva for a mega show on Sept 9 this year. The concert aptly titled: “Prabhu Deva’s The Next Step” received a thunderous welcome on social media when DMY Creation announced this exciting news back in March 6 this year on all their online platforms. Now the update that fans have been waiting for is finally here. DMY Creation has released details of the tickets and the seating map on its social media accounts. Early bird ticket prices for the concert will range from RM88 to RM388 in three main categories.
The highly-anticipated concert is set to take place at the Kuala Lumpur Stadium or also known as KLFA Stadium in Cheras. Tickets for the concert are expected to sell fast, and fans are encouraged to book early to avoid disappointment, says the organizer. Prabhu Deva’s name in the entertainment industry stands synonymous with dance. Many well-known dancers and choreographers in India have come out to say how the dance king has played an important influential role in their careers. There was no other name for DMY Creation when the idea of Malaysia’s Biggest Dance Concert was born except for Prabhu Deva.
DMY Creation is set to give local dancers a chance to perform with the Dance King and be recognised — to make this possible an online contest was conducted where dance enthusiasts who wish to grab the lifetime chance of performing with Prabhu Deva uploaded a 1-minute solo or group performance dance video on social media and tagged @dmycreation and #PDsTheNextStep. DMY Creation said the winning contestants will be announced soon as the list is being finalised by Prabhu Deva’s team. The winners chosen by Prabhu Deva’s team will get to meet and perform with the dance god himself. A separate announcement on this will be made soon.
Prabhu Deva a big name in Kollywood and Bollywood earned the nickname Micheal Jackson (MJ) of India for his unique dancing style with MJ’s flair. His career spanning over 30 years was inspired by his father who choreographed for South Indian movies. He debuted as a choreographer in 1989 for veteran actor Kamal Hassan for the film Vetri Vizha when he was 16 years old (1989) followed by a series of cameo appearances in Tamil films, he landed his first lead role in 1994 for the romantic drama film Indhu. He quickly gained recognition for his innovative dance moves and choreography, which revolutionized the way dance sequences were portrayed in Indian cinema. He introduced a unique blend of western dance styles with traditional Indian dance forms, creating a distinctive style that captured the attention of audiences.
He then sealed his status as a leading hero with hit movies such as Kadhalan (1994), Love Birds (1996), Minsara Kanavu (1997) and VIP (1997), Kaathala Kaathala (1998). His directorial journey started in the mid-2000s with hit films such as Pokkiri (2007), Villu (2009) and Engeyum Kadhal (2011). He also delivered massive hits in not just choreography but also as a director and actor in films such as Dabangg 3, Wanted, Shankardada Zindabad, Rowdy Rathore and Radhe for the Bollywood industry.
The dancer has been honored with the prestigious Padma Shri award by the Government of India back in 2019 for his outstanding contributions to the arts. Apart from that he has won the National Film Award for Best Choreography (1997, 2005), Filmfare Award for Best Choreography (2005, 2006 & 2019), Vijay Award for Best Choreographer (2006), Vijay Awards for Favourite Director (2008) to name a few.
DMY Creation is known for distributing major international and local films and organizing major live entertainment shows. They have their separate audience waiting for their every significant projects. Presenting this concert, they have many interesting segments which will be captivating in this show. As this is the first ever dance concert happening in Malaysia, audience are super excited. Adding on to the excitement, Prabhu Deva said he has already started practicing and building his stamina to perform in the concert. His entry performance is targeted to be 20 minutes long. It will be a non-stop performance. Notably, he has taken this as a challenge for himself and trying this for the first time. Prabhu Deva is set to entertain his audience by his authentic, creative and energetic dance steps and various beats throughout the concert. There might be other genre of performance in between. The selected teams from the contest will be trained by Prabhu Deva and the team to share the stage with the great dancer on the Grand Day. He is looking forward to work with our Malaysian dancers.
