The young rising star, Letshanaa Karupathevan, has garnered herself the title of winner for the National Women’s Badminton Championship. The Selangor-born athlete fought hard and dedicatedly against her equally well-trained opponent, Ling Ching, who played a great game. K. Lestshanaa proves that she is a sharp observer and learner of her own flaws and her opponent’s strengths; she details how she made mistakes in the first half of the game but quickly bounced back to form in the second half. She noticed how her opponent, Wong Ling Ching, was concentrated on getting all the shuttles and increasingly focused on winning the game. That observation and the high-level competition that her opponent gave her steered Letshanaa towards concentrating her energy on winning. The game finished with Letshanaa winning with the scores of 16-21, 21-17, and 21-19. Letshanaa has shared how she has big dreams of becoming Malaysia’s No. 1 Female shuttler, and this win has no doubt brought her closer to her ambition.

\The ever-determined athlete will be joining the Korea Open next week, which will also be her World Tour debut. Letshanaa has stated that this win has definitely brought her into a vigorous mode of performance, for she believes that with more challenging opponents, her skill will only gain sharpness. She expressed that winning this championship has given her a moral boost to perform even better at the Korea Open.

Letshanaa is a former national Under-16 and under-18 athlete who, for a brief time, took a stint off sports due to a serious back injury. Letshanaa, who will be turning 20 in August, has won two women’s singles titles, one in Mauritius against Czech Kateina Tomalová and the other in Uganda against Turkey’s Neslihan Yiit. She has also won bronze in the Sudirman Cup for the 2021 and 2023 mixed team categories. With such stellar accolades at such a young age, we can see that the young athlete is headed towards a victorious path of glory for both herself and the nation. Malaysia is truly lucky to have such a brilliant and high-achieving athlete in its hands.
