The Sungai Buloh, Member of Parliament and President of MITRA (Unit Transformasi Masyarakat India Malaysia), Dato’ Ramanan, has stated that the organisation is currently preparing to implement six new social reforms that will greatly benefit and uplift the Indian community. He detailed that the proposed reforms would be implemented sometime in August. The financial aid of RM2000 will be subsidised for students of Indian descent who are currently in their second to fourth year of pursuing their bachelor’s degrees at a government university. This financial aid programme is structured to grant 10,000 students this opportunity, with MITRA already having received 5,000 applications for this financial aid programme. The financial aid programme will also extend to private university students who are currently studying in their second, third or final year. The programme will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, so students are urged to apply for financial aid as soon as possible.
There is also a financial aid programme that has been created for the private kindergarten institutes that have already been registered with the Ministry of Education Malaysia. On July 14, MITRA signed the documentation for 42 kindergartens with a student population of 1035 to receive RM2,484 000.00. A second batch of 71 pre-school instructional units will also be approved for RM5,092,200.00 in subsidies this coming July 27. The subsidies will begin to be granted directly to the school official at the beginning of August.
Along with this, Webstar Aviation Services Sdh. Bhd., a programme for licensed aircraft maintenance technicians, in collaboration with MITRA, will be offering 100 Indian young adults the opportunity to become certified technicians themselves. They will receive certification, a license, and a job placement after the assessment from the recognised institute of the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM). Applications for the programme will commence on July 26 and run until August 30. Those who are eager to apply for this programme can register through the MITRA online portal at http://www.mitra.gov.my.
The MITRA Foundation has also prepared a Technical Drone Operation and Data Service for 150 young adults, with the addition of an Electrical Automation Advancement Programme for 250 Indians from the B40 category. Applications are available on their website. Furthermore, MITRA will be awarding 6,000 refurbished laptops to Tamil schools, along with RM9600 in subsidies to 900 dialysis patients.
