In that case, we present the “5 Top Grossing Malaysian Tamil Movies of 2022”.
1. Poochandi (Ticket collection: RM 762,996.36)
This movie is directed by J. K. Wicky and produced by Triumbakaa Sdn.Bhd. It comes with a run time of 1 hour 55 minutes. “Poochandi” comes from a mixture of genres which are horror, mystery, thriller and comedy as well. the movie stars RJ Ramana, Hamsni Perumal, Ganessan Manogharan, Tinesh Sarathi Krishnan, Logan Nathan, Ravi Shanker and many more.
The story is about a thrill-seeking journalist Murugan heads to Malaysia to look for ordinary folks with odd stories, to be used as part of the true paranormal story collection he writes for a magazine. Everything goes well at first for him upon his arrival in Malaysia, that is until he encounters a supernatural experience that changes his life. It was indeed an interesting movie which caught the attention of the audience throughout the film.
2. Senthozhan Sengkathirvaanan (Ticket collection: RM 104,853.56)
A movie produced by Villanz Productions (M) Sdn.Bhd and directed by Govind Singh. The genre of the movie is thriller. The run time of the film is 2 hours 19 minutes. The cast of the movie includes Chandinie Kaur, Kash Villanz, Moon Nila, Isaac Raj and many more. Notably, the movie was nominated for 2 categories in Malaysian Film Festival 2022. One was for Best Child Actor/ Actress for Isaac Raj and another was for Best Director which is Govind Singh.
Full of suspense, the story revolves around a young man who suffers from bipolar disorder. His psychological and mental disorders cause him to be often anxious and reluctant. Amidst this, his secret admirer who learns there’s more to the story, at which point the darkest and dangerous secrets unfold. Thereafter, she finds herself battling a dark and dangerous mind game after encountering numerous manipulative, evil and twisted incidents. Life is turned upside down even further when she witnesses something from the window while spying. But, did she really see what she thinks she saw? The story will cover that.
3. Moondram Athigharam (Ticket collection: RM 85,324.80)
Moondram Athigharam emerges from the direction of SD Puvanendran and production of Kalki Production Group Sdn.Bhd. The movie stars Jibrail Rajhula, Haridhass. S, Kavitha Thiagarajan and many more. Its an action movie.
Notably, this movie is also nominated for two award categories in Malaysian Film Festival 2022 as well. Haridhass has been nominated for Best actor category and Kavitha Thiagarajan has been nominated for the Best supporting actress category. Moondram Athigharam tells the story of how a sturdy police officer named Ashok and a brainy forensic expert, Kalki team up to bring down a serial killer named ‘Ruthran’ who challenges them both.
4. Gajen (Ticket collection: RM 65,773.74)
Gajen is one of the popular film which was released last year. The movie hit the big screen on 24th November 2022. It was directed by Malaysia’s leading actor, director and producers, the well known Denes Kumar and Vimala Perumal. Eventually, the film was presented by their very own Veedu Production Sdn. Bhd. Shameshan Manimaran has composed music for this film.
It stars Denes Kumar, Jasmine Michael and Abhirami Venkatachalam as main leads. Its a thriller movie where the story covers Gautham, a junior doctor, is carefree and leads a life without ambition. He gets entangled in a medical conspiracy that changes his course of life. The plot thickens as the two women in his life, Yazhini and Aashika, falls victim in his fight against injustice against Vikram Samrat, head of a top pharmaceutical company.
5. Narigal (Ticket collection: RM 53,577.94)
Saravanan Ramalingam is the director of the movie, Narigal an it was produced by Boss Pictures Sdn. Bhd. Cast of the movie includes Jayarajendran John, Alvin Martin and Saravanan Ramalingam.
This movie revolves around three best friends who have been working together suddenly suffers from the demise of one of their friend by unknown reason. The thought of their lost friend made the other two friend to find out the truth behind this sudden incident. Not only him, his entire family passed away at the same time. Isn’t that suspicious? It turns out to be there was a massive cause of their death that caused the father of the family to poison the rest of the family members without letting them know the reason. The story shows how these two friends sets to solve the mystery.
