The highly anticipated Rajinikanth film Jailer will be releasing on August 10. The film is the first ever collaboration between Nelson and Rajinikanth, promising the magnetising screen presence of Rajinikanth combined with the standard Nelson-style dry humour. The film is set to have its first show in the United States, with ticket sales already grossing over $500,000. It is estimated that Jailer will collectively earn about $1 million from its US premiere.
If Jailer earns more than the estimated mark, it would make a new historical record of its own. Jailer has already overtaken Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan 2 and Kamal Hassan’s Vikram with its current pre-sale tickets.
Rajinikanth’s character in Jailer is named Tiger” Muthuvel Pandian, while the esteemed actress Ramya Krishnan will be playing the role of his wife. Many fans have rejoiced at the fact that Neelambari and Padayappa gets to star on screen together as a couple. Neelambari and Padayappa are both iconic roles that both actors, respectively, portrayed in the 1999 hit film Padayappa. The film also has an astoundingly talented cast of Mohanlal, Jackie Shroff, Shiva Rajkumar, Sunil, Vinayakan, Mirnaa Menon, and Tamannaah Bhatia.
The score for the film is composed by award-winning music producer Anirudh Ravichander. The young composer has created music for Rajinikanth’s previous films, like Darbar and Petta. Anirudh has already been the music composer for all of Nelson’s previous films. The two songs that have been released for Jailer, titled Kaavaalaa and Hukum, have been both massive hits, with Kaavaalaa already surpassing the 100 million mark.
