Hailing from Kluang, Johor, Heerraa Ravindran is an ambitious, inspiring, and creative young woman with a global outlook. At the young age of 24, she has amassed great heights without losing her sense of character or roots. The young award-winning musician has stated that she aims to create music with a profound purpose; she wants her art to transform the world. Her music is ebbed with the morals and ethics of her soul, one that is bound with purpose and ambition. Heerraa is not only an internationally up-and-coming singer-songwriter but also a Dean’s List student at the prestigious Harvard Extension School, where she is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Liberal Arts.
This stellar artist first began dreaming of becoming a singer at the age of 14. She describes that at the time, coming from a conservative Asian environment, people were not that welcoming of pursuing a career in the performing arts, but young Heerraa persisted against their unimaginative thinking and has managed to prove old superstitions against the performing arts as false. Her music has travelled far and wide, being played on radio stations in countries like the USA, Denmark, the UK, Brunei, Australia, and her country of birth, Malaysia. Her body of work, which is still in its infancy, exemplifies that music is boundless.
The incredibly talented performer has been awarded multiple international accolades for her immensely wonderful music; some of them include the ICon Award and Best in North America (Pop) for “Feel Alive” at the InterContinental Music Awards 2022, Atlanta’s Female Single of the Year (International)-Gold Award, and Best Song of the Month for “Feel Alive” at SongwriterUniverse, Los Angeles. Apart from Malaysia and Singapore, She has also delivered multiple phenomenal performances across countries like the United States, the United Kingdom, Europe, and Asia. Her music, which comprises many genres, has touched the hearts of many listeners across the world.
Heerraa has created music that contextualises the human spirit of existance. She expresses that her art is both a way for her to materialise her own innermost thoughts and feelings as well as a way for her to emphasise the experiences of others. Songs of hers like “Crazy” are her way of relating to people and the maddening states they may experience in this life; her lyrics inspire them to not be engulfed by the madness but to find new ground through the beautiful absurdism of life. Heerraa is also an artist who is open to experimenting with her music; she has created music in the genres of Pop, R&B, funk-soul, and retro-pop.
Together with her creative journey as a musician, the young star is also ardently pursuing academic exceptionalism. She has been awarded the coveted Harvard Dean’s List Honours and is currently the Director of Communications at the Harvard Extension Student Association (HESA). The determined and enlightened young woman has always centred her beliefs around being supportive and resourceful to those around her; it is with that noble pursuit that she co-founded Ascendance, an award-winning international youth movement and social enterprise. Her incredibly altruistic organisation has been awarded the Diana Award 2019 (UK) and is recognised as one of the most rapidly growing youth movements in the region of Southeast Asia. The organisation has been built upon the principle of guiding young people between the ages of 8 and 23 in exploring their passions and careers; they also conduct efficient and necessary workshops as well as leadership programmes. It was only last year that Heerraa stepped down from her position as Chief Operations Officer, giving her students the wonderful opportunity to lead the programmes.
Heerraa Ravindran is an exemplary young woman who devotes herself to music, academics, and social causes with complete kindness and selflessness. Her creative endeavors as a singer and songwriter are distinguished by the fact that they are constructed out of the deep humanity that Heerraa bears within her. The sensitivity, brilliance, and empathy this young artist holds within her is the reason her art is being celebrated by so many people across the international stage.
