Scientific knowledge is an essential part of the development of human society, which is why the importance of this field should be taught to young minds at an early age. Science has brought humanity medicine, engineering, physics, and many more crucial theories that are innate to the growth of a nation. It is with this truth in mind that the Association of Science, Technology, and Innovation (ASTI) has collaborated with the Tamil School’s Headmasters Association of Malaysia to bring forth the Zone Level Science Fair for Young Children 2023 with the aim of enlightening Tamil school students about the deep wonders of science and its significance for human development. The amazing event celebrates its 17th year of successful organisation, with its upcoming fair taking place on August 26 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. simultaneously across the nine states of Penang, Kedah, Perak, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Pahang, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, and Johor.

This wonderfully entertaining and educational fair is divided into three tiers: School Level Science Fairs (SLSF), Zone Level Science Fairs (ZLSF), and National Level Science Fairs (NSFYC). This year’s Zone Level Science Fairs will see 2000 eagerly brilliant participants from 400 Tamil schools across nine states. The competition will be a fruitful and inspirational space for students to exchange knowledge with one another and gain expertise from other educators.

The winner from each state will be awarded the amazing cash prize of RM1000, a trophy, medal, and certificate. The 1st Runner-Up will be awarded RM700, and the 2nd Runner-Up will be awarded RM500; both will also receive a trophy, medal, and certificate. As for the participants who won 4th to 10th place, the organisation will honour them all with medals and certificates. Every student who participates will receive certificates of participation, while teachers who diligently nurtured these students will be awarded certificates of appreciation.

The schools that performed exponentially well in this fair will qualify to show their talents in the national level competition. The prestigious National Level Competition is scheduled to commence on the 25th and 26th of November, where brilliant and ambitious students can once again immerse themselves in the endlessly captivating world of science.

Programmes such as this are founded on the noble and necessary pursuit of attracting young students to the ever-interesting field of science. The Association of Science, Technology, and Innovation continues to contribute towards the scientific awakening emerging in the curious and creative minds of children eager to grasp the magic of the world around them. These phenomenal educational spaces allow children to grow in curiosity, a healthy sense of competition, and the invaluable skill of scientific investigation. Amplifying this analytical and visionary aspect of children’s thinking will only aid in the prosperous development of their education and the nation’s future.
