His journey into the world of cinema industry began at a young age. He started his career as a host in Astro’s renowned programme “360 Degree”. From there he got many opportunities and his notable tv programme was hosting ‘Vizhuthugal‘. Kabil was a charismatic and engaging host in ‘Vizhuthugal’, known for his empathy and exceptional interviewing skills. He effortlessly connects with viewers, making each show a captivating and unforgettable experience.
After initially gaining recognition through his work on the television program ‘Vizhuthugal,’ Kabil took a significant step forward in his career by making his debut as an actor in the theatrical film titled “Thirudathey Papa Thirudathey” which was released in 2018. This film was directed by Shalini Balasundaram, and it marked a transition from television to the big screen for the talented individual. “Rail Payanangal” the telemovie which was released in 2019 was his notable project with his breakthrough performance. He has take up new responsibility as becoming the story, screenplay and scriptwriter for his new short film “Birthday” which was launched on 8th September 2023. Notably, Kabil Ganesan, has etched his name indelibly into the annals of cinematic distinction. In a breathtaking coup, he has seized a coveted place within The Malaysia Book of Records, an accolade of extraordinary magnitude. He received The Malaysia Book Of Records for being the ‘Most characters portrayed in a short film.’
Kabil Ganesan’s exceptional portrayal in the short film ‘Birthday’ has established him as an unparalleled genius, effortlessly embodying a captivating array of characters. The short film is directed by Manan Subra and Varmman Elangkovan has scored music. Kabil has played 8 multiple characters is this short film. We can witness him as Akash Swaminathan as the main one, continued by a role of priest, old grandmother, a woman named Swetha, a transgender named ‘Yugendran’, a blind man, a robber, and lastly as a beggar.
His ability to seamlessly transition between roles, from the poignant to the comedic, from the heroic to the tragic, evokes awe and admiration from viewers. For this short film, the endeavor requires not only exceptional acting skills but also a high level of commitment and resourcefulness. There would be many challenges faced by an artist when undergoing such dramatic look changes. Kabil stated that he had also faced those challenges in playing those characters. He has to be with beard for some characters and without beard for some characters, he has to spend more time in make up in order to take up a female role. He also has to show different type of expressions while delivering each characters.
Balancing the creative expression of each character while adhering to the overall vision of the film can be a delicate act. He must find ways to infuse uniqueness into each role while maintaining coherence within the story. But, Kabil has delivered a wonderful performance in every role which he played in the short film.
As this is his first experience being a script, story and screenplay writer, Kabil said that,
It was a new experience for where I have learned a lot through this valuable experience. I made sure that the message is delivered well. I also did not want unnecessary dialogues and scenes which might be draggy. I was very particular in that. Over all, it was something new but I truly enjoyed throughout the process. I’m looking forward to explore more in this field.
He also stated that “Birthday”, the short film wouldn’t have happened without his team of friends who are also well known talents in the industry. He said that,
They were very supportive and helpful. They also worked hard for the good outcome of the movie. The support system from them was the main reason for me to give my best. I would like to thank them for being a part of this project.
With the skills he has learned from this project, Kabil wishes to produce more fruitful projects and contents in the future. He also aims to build his YouTube named “Kabil Entertainment” with more unique but useful contents. Furthermore, Kabil’s passion for acting remains undiminished, and he eagerly anticipates seizing new opportunities in the world of cinema.
