Karthik Subburaj has just released the trailer for his eagerly anticipated film Jigarthanda DoubleX, which stars both Raghava Lawrence and SJ Suryah in pivotal roles. The film is said to be a sequel to the previously hit film Jigarthanda of Karthik, which starred Siddharth and Bobby Simha in critical roles. This film, however, is said to take place in 1975 and follows a similar premise as the original film about a director, SJ Suryah, working with a gangster, Raghava Lawrence.
The film is based on an aesthetic that is a fusion of both the wild west genre and the Tamil landscape. In the trailer itself, the audience is introduced to the term Pandyaa Western,” which is presumably meant to denote that the film is a blending of the western genre within the cultural environment of southern Tamil Nadu, the lands that were ruled by the ancient Pandya dynasty.
The teaser for the film was launched by Dhanush on his X (formerly Twitter) account. The film’s music is composed by the award-winning Santosh Narayanan, who had previously scored music for nearly all of Karthik Subburaj’s films, such as Pizza, Jigarthanda, Iraivi, and Petta, to name a few.
The film has a stellar cast of SJ Suryah and Raghava Lawrence, who both look incredibly intriguing in their portrayals of their roles. SJ Suryah had previously expressed that he was incredibly excited by the new visual language and storyline this film introduces.
