Sports, in addition to education, should be encouraged on children since they play an important part in a child’s development, such as developing self-confidence and self-esteem. After a game, a slap on the back, high-five from a teammate, or handshake enhances a child’s confidence.

They also acquire a sense of belonging and have the opportunity to meet new friends. They will benefit from these communication and social abilities in their future relationships and employment. Sports teach youngsters that a team cannot win unless everyone works together and plays to each other’s abilities. They also learn to be less selfish and to not allow their ego get the best of them.

Bathumalai, vice-president of the Petaling District Football Association, said the football competition for Tamil schools was a major success, as was the football match between Selangor and Kuala Lumpur. The tournament included competitors from both the male and female divisions. At the same time, a large number of parents and teachers arrived to witness the game. This is a tournament victory.
