Pearly Tan and Thinaah Muralitharan, pride of our nation has successfully won another round and march into the last eight at Kumamoto Masters Japan 2023. Previously we shared that this duo has qualified for second round in this competition.

Certainly, this dynamic pair found themselves absent from three matches owing to Pearly’s back injury, causing them to forgo participation in tournaments held in Denmark, France, and Finland. The profound impact of missing these crucial matches instilled a resolute determination in both players.

This sense of loss served as a driving force, propelling them to exhibit an exceptional performance in the current tournament. Their remarkable display underscores the strength of their comeback and the resilience born out of adversity.

The world’s 13th ranked pair, Pearly and Thinaah secured this success by defeating the Japanese pair, Rui Hirokami-Yuna Kato, during the round of 16 competition yesterday. Pearly and Thinaah demonstrated a seemingly effortless performance, encountering minimal challenges as they confronted the 28th-ranked pair in the world within 41 minutes.

Their dominance was evident in the final score of 21-17, 21-16, reflecting their control over the match. The relatively short duration of 41 minutes further emphasizes their efficiency and proficiency on the court, suggesting a convincing and well-executed victory.

They had won a South Korean pair, Lee Yu Lim and Shin Seung Chan in the first round with a score of  line of 21-14, 20-22, 21-18. Following their victory, this pair is now poised to compete in the quarterfinals against another formidable Japanese team. Their upcoming match will determine whether they advance further in the tournament, presenting another opportunity to showcase their skills and secure a spot in the next stage of the competition.
