Lord Ayyappan, a revered deity in Hinduism, is worshiped as the epitome of virtue, celibacy, and devotion. His home at Sabarimala, Kerala, is a sacred pilgrimage site, especially during the revered Mandala season. Mandala Pooja marks the last day of a 41-day fasting period observed by Lord Ayyappa’s devotees. The austerity commences 41 days prior to Mandala Puja, starting on the first day of Viruchikam Masam in the Malayalam Calendar.

Arulmigu Sri Ayyappaswamy Devasthanam which is located near Batu Caves temple, stands as a renowned sanctuary dedicated to Lord Ayyappan in Malaysia. This divine place holds significant prominence, drawing Ayyappan devotees from across the region, particularly during the months spanning from November to January as they will wear Maalai during the period.
