The National Science Fair for Young Children 2023, organised by The Association of Science, Technology, and Innovation (ASTI) returned this year to another roaring success. This programme, which centres on bringing about greater scientific curiosity among Tamil school children, has been greatly supported and celebrated by students, teachers, and parents alike, who understand the undeniable benefits that are created through these science fairs, that creates a platform for young children to explore and immerse themselves in the fascinating world of science. This excitement among children can be seen in the near 40000 Tamil students who participate in this wonderful programme annually. The Science Fair for Young Children has been conducted since 2007, and it is celebrating its 16th successful year of operations. The programme covers three levels: school, levels, state level, and national level.

This year, ASTI has chosen to hold the National Science Fair 2023 as a physical event for two days at IMBI Convention Hall from November 25–26, 2023, after it was held virtually for a period of three years as a result of the pandemic. About 400 schools competed at the state level this year, with 70 of them progressing on to the national stage.

The National Level SFYC 2023 is structured as an educational event where students will be able to display hands-on experiments and curate them in the form of an exhibition. Competition teams had to choose from 11 designated titles that were presented by the judging committee and create a prototype of that experiment according to scientific methodology. This prototype will then be exhibited before the judges and general public at the grand finale.
