The National Science Fair for Young Children 2023, organised by The Association of Science, Technology, and Innovation (ASTI) returned this year to another roaring success. This programme, which centres on bringing about greater scientific curiosity among Tamil school children, has been greatly supported and celebrated by students, teachers, and parents alike, who understand the undeniable benefits that are created through these science fairs, that creates a platform for young children to explore and immerse themselves in the fascinating world of science. This excitement among children can be seen in the near 40000 Tamil students who participate in this wonderful programme annually. The Science Fair for Young Children has been conducted since 2007, and it is celebrating its 16th successful year of operations. The programme covers three levels: school, levels, state level, and national level.

This year, ASTI has chosen to hold the National Science Fair 2023 as a physical event for two days at IMBI Convention Hall from November 25–26, 2023, after it was held virtually for a period of three years as a result of the pandemic. About 400 schools competed at the state level this year, with 70 of them progressing on to the national stage.

The National Level SFYC 2023 is structured as an educational event where students will be able to display hands-on experiments and curate them in the form of an exhibition. Competition teams had to choose from 11 designated titles that were presented by the judging committee and create a prototype of that experiment according to scientific methodology. This prototype will then be exhibited before the judges and general public at the grand finale.

The 10 schools who were awarded for their exceptional projects are listed below:

The Platinum Award:
1st SJKT Sungai Renggam (Selangor)

Gold Award:
2nd SJKT Permatang Tinggi (Penang)
3Rd SJKT Ko Sarangapany (Kedah)

It was also through the sponsorship of the Breyer Group, Premium Healthcare Sdn Bhd, Baba Products (M) Sdn Bhd, National Land Finance Cooperative Society (NLFCS), Global Millennium Trading Sdn Bhd, and Madeena that this necessary programme was made possible.

These forms of scientific events are essential for the development of young Tamil students to further their interest in the world of scientific knowledge. The accolades that have been won by these brilliant students, along with their supportive schools, are great encouragements for them to dedicate themselves to the arduous and noble pursuit of knowledge. This inspiration towards scientific careers is not only given to those who have won in this science fair but also to all the students who fully dedicated themselves and participated in this program. Every child who had the amazing opportunity to be engulfed in this phenomenal event will carry with them the cherishment and meaningful knowledge, memories, and encouragement they have gathered in this space. These future leaders of this nation will grow up with a more rational and scientifically informed way of thinking, which will only aid in further developing the country and its people.
