In response to escalating concerns over the prevailing weather conditions, the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) has issued a directive urging the immediate activation of both state and district-level disaster management committees in the regions of Pahang and Johor. This strategic move is a precautionary measure designed to enhance preparedness and coordination efforts in anticipation of potential disasters or emergencies arising from the adverse weather patterns in these areas.

In response to the continuous rainfall warning issued by the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) at 12:30pm today for various regions in Pahang and Johor, the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) has instructed the activation of state and district disaster management committees in these areas. This precautionary measure is being taken to ensure preparedness and effective coordination in light of the heightened alert level due to the persistent rain.

“The committees are also asked to ensure every temporary relief centre is equipped with basic needs and the Scene Control Post(PKTK) has sufficient operational assets, is in good condition and ready for use. All central-level operational centres or disaster control centres must forward this notice to the state and district levels,” NADMA stated in a statement today.

NADMA has announced its commitment to actively monitor the evolving situation through the National Disaster Command Centre (NDCC). This entails continuous monitoring of technical information parameters in collaboration with various technical agencies.

The announcement further highlighted the preparedness of the National Disaster Command Centre (NDCC) to receive and respond to disaster-related information, seek management assistance, and coordinate disaster operations. Stakeholders and the public can reach out to NDCC through various channels, including a dedicated phone line at 03-8064 2400, fax communication at 03-8064 2429, and via email at opsroom@nadma.gov.my. This proactive communication approach ensures a streamlined and efficient mechanism for reporting and addressing disaster-related concerns, fostering a prompt and coordinated response.
