With changing times, inclusivity in beauty and fashion has been an agenda that is being shoved down the throat of capitalism globally. A homegrown talent who is actively campaigning towards more representation in the beauty and fashion industry is Vanizha Vasanthanathan.
Vanizha Vasanthanathan is an Odissi Dancer at the critically-acclaimed Sutra Dance Theatre under the tutelage of Padma Shri Datuk Ramli Ibrahim. She has travelled around the world to perform Odissi and has walked at so many international fashion shows. In 2018, Vanizha modelled for Farah Khan at her show in Halcyon Gallery, London and she was even featured on the spreads of Vogue magazine. She walked at Lakme Fashion Week, Beijing Fashion Week, China Fashion Week and the list continues. Her next ramp walk is for the Jakarta Fashion Week 2020 (JFW 2020).
Recently, Vanizha landed in an international beauty campaign for Sephora. She will be seen on SEPHORA advertisements in Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, India, Thailand AND Philippines. In a heartfelt note on social media, Vanizha shares about the social importance of this milestone to rest of the community.
As an advocate of inclusivity, Vanizha also said that, every dark skinned person, regardless of gender should be proud of how they look and believes that it is about time for everyone to break barriers and stigmas.
