During the promotional event of Desingu Raja 2, the veteran director S.A. Chandrasekhar and father of Thalapathy Vijay recalled an incident, where he called a filmmaker to appreciate his recent film. As soon he starts to point out the flaws in the second half of the film, he hung up the phone.
He mentioned that he had the privilege to watch the first copy of the film before its release. So he decided to call and acknowledge the famed director. “He told that the first half of the film is amazing, people should look after you to make a film”. The director was listening to this point calmly, as soon he starts to talk about the flaws in the second half of the film. The director interrupts and told “I’m having food right now, later we will talk about it sir”. Chandrasekhar also adds that until now, the director didn’t call him sarcastically.
Despite the fact S.A. Chandrasekhar did not mention the director’s name nor the title of the movie, eventually everything connects the dots that he was referring to Thalapathy Vijay starred ‘LEO’ directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. When he told the filmmaker, “that sacrifice and ritual portion in the movie will fail to connect to the audience and audience won’t be accepting sacrificing own son for wealth”.
After the film release, everyone had the same point of view towards the film. Chandrasekhar also highlights that “No one has the courage and maturity to receive criticism now days”.
In matter of fact, Vijay and his father had a long conflict between them over these years. Where Vijay even filed a case against his parents for misusing his name and fame. Even S.A. Chandrasekhar claimed it publicly that no family without problems, fathers and sons may disagree, but they mend their differences eventually. However, Chandrasekhar’s criticism on ‘LEO’ and Lokesh Kanagaraj publicly could hurt Vijay and the conflict between them might go on for a long term.
