One of Malaysia’s most celebrated Tamil playwrights, Seyad ‘Computer’ Buhari, has created a new production under the title Veettuku Veedu Vaasappadi, which will be Malaysia’s third-ever Tamil Islamic stage play that explores the intricacies of modern Tamil Muslim society. The play, which is proudly presented by Thamizhan Kalai Koodam, will take place on February 12, 2024, at 7:31 p.m. at Wisma Tun Sambanthan’s Tan Sri K.R. Soma Hall. The stage play, which has free admission, will feature some of Malaysia’s most eclectic actors, such as Subhasree Vairamuthu, Honey Priya, and Sugu Suraj.
The play, which is rooted in expressing the contemporary lives of Tamil Islamic life, is one that is both a reflection of the community’s social paradigm as well as an introspection of the domestic realities of many in Malaysia beyond the confines of religion. Seyad Buhari, who is popularly known as Computer Buhari, has amassed many prestigious titles, such as Nadaga Kalai Arasan and Kalaimamani, all of which are emblems of his continuous and dedicated contributions to the Tamil creative industry in Malaysia. Veettuku Veedu Vaasappadi, which is Buhari’s 19th creation, has not only been directed and written by him, but the multitalented visionary has also created the mood music, visual graphics, and special effects for this exciting new stage drama.
