Trisha’s 60th film trailer was released over the weekend, and fans have been going crazy about the upcoming thriller, Paramapadham Vilayaatu.

The actress will be playing the role of a doctor who is tending to an affluent political figure. She is also a mother to a hearing and speech impaired child. As the trailer progresses, Trisha lands in trouble for meddling with the politician’s affairs.

“For the first time, I’m doing a political-thriller. It’s very interesting and we had a lot of fun making it. We’ve shot inside a forest and the film is high on action and adventure,” Trisha revealed on Twitter about Paramapadham Vilayaatu.

Directed by K Thirugnanam, Paramapadham Vilayaatu stars Nandha, AL Azhagappan, Vela Ramamoorthy, Richard and Chaams. Amrish will be composing the music for the film.

Unfortunately, the trailer of Paramapadham Vilayaatu fails to excite us. Which is surprising, because it seems to have a good story line and a big name tagged onto it. It could be the amateurishly shot scenes, combined with sub par editing, along with Trisha’s mediocre acting.

Yes, we know that Trisha is a big name in Tamil films, and while she does emote well in the lovey dovey scenes, and her crying is quite believable, this writer feels like her acting prowess is limited to those two emotions. Physical pain and anger are not in her wheelhouse, as evidenced by performances in Thoongavanam and Kodi.

Also, why does every Tamil political film feature people setting themselves on fire? Is self immolation so entrenched in Tamil Nadu politics?

It is unclear when Paramapadham Vilayaatu will hit the screens.
