The management of Sri Maha Mariamman Temple Devasthanam Kuala Lumpur, which also runs ALL three temples above, released a statement on May 16 saying that they were wary about the arrest of a group of men who wanted to avenge the death of fireman Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim by attacking Hindu places of worship.

The organisation stated, “We view the arrests seriously, and their intentions which had been planned, which was to target places of worship as well as entertainment outlets in a supposedly act of revenge on the unfortunate death of the fireman in the Seafield temple incident last year. We are consistently looking at steps to be taken to elevate security and safety measures at all three temples”.

Seafield temple riots, 2018

Fireman Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim succumbed to his injuries last year after he was beaten up by a mob when he was responding to an emergency call at the Seafield Sri Maha Mariamman Temple in Subang Jaya. A riot had broken out at the Seafield Sri Maha Mariamman Temple following an attack by a group of men. The riot was later on linked to property developers of One City following the failure in relocation of the 147-year-old temple.
