Samantha repurposes her wedding gown into a stunning black dress

Actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu attended the Elle Sustainability Award 2024 on Thursday evening. The award was for the change makers that plays their part ensuring a sustainable future. She has also won the, “Signature Package Drinking Water Elle Leaders Of Change (Female).”  

Samantha made new waves at the award night by wearing a stunning black bodice dress. What’s interesting is that this eye catching dress was made by her wedding gown from her marriage with Naga Chaitanya in 2017. 

Samantha announced her divorce in 2021 had already captured headlines, but her latest appearance added another layer to her story. It wasn’t about just attending an event, it was about making a statement, both environmentally and personally. The black dress worn by her was simple yet an elegant and stunning dress, that brings a meaning.  As they say, ” It’s not the clothes you wear, It’s the story they tell “. 

Her bold and innovative move explains the transformation of her past life to her present life. She posted the picture of the dress with the caption that says ,

We cannot ignore sustainability anymore. We’re past that stage when it was a choice. It’s now a necessity for the longevity of our planet that we call home. The dress I am wearing today is a beloved gown that has been repurposed for this occasion by the most talented @kreshabajajofficial .

Samantha has always inspired her fans with her work, whether it’s her life story or her work towards sustainability. As she continues to inspired her fans, her winning the award at Elle Sustainability Award felt like she deserved it. She also quoted, ”

While that might sound insignificant… entitled even… to many… I assure you that repurposing my old clothes is only one of many steps I am consciously taking to alter my habits and make my lifestyle more sustainable. And every little gesture, every little decisive action, is important. It all adds up. I urge myself and all of you that have goodwill for me in your hearts to make those little efforts. Thank you.

Apart from story telling, the creativity of making a wedding gown into a different dress that brought a completely different look was outstanding and explains the talent of the fashion designer. The dress was repurpose by the designer that made her wedding gown originally. The fashion designer is Kresha Bajaj, a talented designer who owns their owns a luxury brand  “ Kresha Bajaj”.  Their idea to re-create the dress is innovative and a unique way of creating a stunning dress out of an older gown.

Through a captivating Instagram reel, Bajaj unveiled the intricate process of repurposing the gown, showcasing how they meticulously hand-sewed floral and crystal detailing onto the once-white fabric, ultimately dyeing it black and altering its silhouette. Kresha Bajaj posted a reel on their Instagram by showing the transformation of the dress with caption, ”

There are always new memories to be made.
There are always new paths to walk.
There are always new stories to tell

People were inspired by the transformation as it had a meaning behind it and loved how the gown turned out.
