This is the day that Bala Ganapathi William turns back to his younger self, a Sungai Petani born lad who dropped out of Mechatronics Engineering to pursue acting, and tell him that one day he will make it BIG!
The journey has been long and tedious for Bala Ganapathi William (BGW) but his hardwork has finally paid off at the biggest gathering of the Malaysian Indian film fraternity. BGW and his ‘Neeyum Naanum’ team won a TOTAL of 5 Awards at the Malaysian Indian Cine Awards, MICA Awards 2019.
BGW won Best Debut Director for his first attempt at directing the feature film starring Jasmin Michael, Kavitha Thiagarajan, KK Khanna, Arun Kumaran, Sathya, Kaamesha Ravindran, Sathiya, Sures Thirugana Sambanthan, Suhan Panchacaram, Revathy Raaga, Rathey Sakkubhai & many others. Jasmin Michael beat other nominees such as Sangeetha Krishnasamy for ‘Vedigundu Pasanga’, Punitha Shanmugam for ‘Sughamaai Subbulakshmi’ and Punnagai Poo Geetha for ‘Atcham Thavir’ to win Best Actress for ‘Neeyum Naanum’.
It was also a win for the production team of ‘Neeyum Naanum’ as Ramses Rao won Best Editor and Soma Kanthan won Best Cinematographer. At the end of the night, the film bagged the biggest award of the evening; Best Movie.
BGW took it to social media to share his appreciation and excitement in a Facebook post captioned, “Best Movie of the year award for Neeyum Naanum movie. Total 5 MICA Awards for our movie. Thank you everyone for your support”.
