Last week, the Court Hill Sri Ganesar Temple, also known as the Kortumalai Pillaiyar Temple, held a special prayer ceremony to officially commence its renovation work in preparation for the temple’s kumbabishegam scheduled for next year. This well-known Malaysian temple is dedicated to Lord Ganesha and consistently attracts a large number of devotees. It is customary for temples to undergo refurbishment before their kumbabishegam celebrations. Thus, the prayer ceremony at the Court Hill Sri Ganesar Temple took place last Sunday, marking the beginning of this significant renovation project.
The prayer ceremony was attended by Datuk Seri M. Saravanan and Tan Sri R. Nadarajah, along with numerous devotees. During this special occasion, the Sri Maha Mariamman Devasthanam management generously donated a fund of RM10,000 to the Malaysia Hindu Sangam. In a symbolic gesture, Tan Sri Nadarajah, the head of the Mariamman Devasthanam, presented a mock cheque to Mr. Thanga Ganesan, the Chairman of Malaysia Hindu Sangam. This donation underscores the commitment of the Sri Maha Mariamman Devasthanam management to supporting the Hindu community in Malaysia.
This fund will be instrumental for the Malaysia Hindu Sangam in its mission to enrich the Indian community with essential religious knowledge and awareness. The association has been actively organizing religious classes, activities, prayers, and Hindu religious training camps. Tan Sri Nadarajah emphasized that the management of Sri Maha Mariamman Devasthanam is committed to supporting associations in need and will continue to do so in the future. It not only marked the beginning of the temple’s renovation but also showcased the solidarity and collective effort of the Hindu community in preserving and enhancing their places of worship.
