Actor Sathyaraj and Rajinikanth, two stars of Tamil cinema are set to reunite after a long hiatus of 38 years for Lokesh Kanagaraj’s upcoming film Coolie. This announcement has brought to the fore long standing rumors of a feud between the two actors which Sathyaraj has now publicly denied.
In a recent interview with Indiaglitz, Sathyaraj addressed the speculations surrounding his relationship with Rajinikanth. It has been rumored that the two had a fallout in the 1990s, particularly after their collaboration in the 1986 blockbuster film Mr. Bharath. These rumors were fueled further by their lack of subsequent collaborations and Sathyaraj’s fiery speech during a protest against the Karnataka government which was perceived as a dig at Rajinikanth.
However, Sathyaraj clarified that there was no bad blood between them. He explained that he had been approached to act alongside Rajinikanth in Sivaji (2007) and Enthiran (2010). In Sivaji, he was offered a role that he did not find satisfying and in Enthiran, he was considered for the role of the evil scientist, Dr.Bohra who corrupts Chitti Robo.
Sathyaraj stated,
“After I became a hero, I was approached for two Rajinikanth films. The first one was Sivaji, the other was Enthiran. I wasn’t satisfied with both roles. Otherwise, what problems do we have?”
His role in Coolie
The much-anticipated reunion in Coolie marks Rajinikanth’s 171st film. While details of the film are under wraps, the teaser hints at a plot involving gold smuggling and Anirudh Ravichander is set to compose the music. Sathyaraj during the promotions of his film Malai Pidikatha Manithan, confirmed his involvement in Coolie but refrained from sharing the details about his role due to contract obligations.
Sathyaraj’s upcoming films
Apart from Coolie, Sathyaraj is rumored to be part of AR Murugadoss film Sikander, starring Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandanna. He is also set to feature in Vasanth Ravi’s Weapon, which releases on June 7, where he plays a superhuman role, a first in his career.
Sathyaraj’s clarification about the alleged feud and his upcoming projects have sparked excitement among fans, eager to see the two legends share screen space once again. As the industry buzzes with anticipation, the reunion of Sathyaraj and Rajinikanth in Coolie promises to be a cinematic treat.
