The start of 2024 has been lackluster for Tamil cinema, marked by a dearth of blockbuster releases apart from a few exceptions like “Star” and “Garudan” in May. Notably, major stars of Kollywood have been absent from the scene. However, the latter half of 2024 promises to bring about a significant shift, with several highly anticipated Tamil films from big names in the industry scheduled for release.

The anticipation for Deepavali 2024 in the Indian film industry is palpable as multiple major productions vie for a release during this auspicious festival. Among the highly anticipated releases, Suriya’s “Kanguva” stands out, with indications pointing towards its almost certain release during Deepavali. The film’s makers are reportedly gearing up for a lavish theatrical launch, capitalizing on the festive fervor to unveil this period action drama to eager audiences.

The latest report has sparked excitement among fans as it suggests that Ajith’s “Vidaamuyarchi” and Vetri Maaran’s “Viduthalai 2” are also eyeing a Deepavali release, as reported by Indiaglitz Tamil. However, it remains to be seen whether all three major films will indeed hit the screens simultaneously for Deepavali or if adjustments will be made to accommodate each other’s grand releases. It’s worth noting that if all three films do release for Deepavali, there may be fewer screens available for other language films, highlighting the potential impact of these blockbuster Tamil releases on the overall cinema landscape.

Under the direction of Siruthai Siva, filming for “Kanguva” has concluded, and the movie is currently undergoing post-production with steady progress. On another front, helmed by Magizh Thirumeni, the shooting for Ajith’s “Vidaamuyachi” is still underway, with the action-packed drama’s next schedule set to kick off shortly. There are just a few remaining patchwork scenes to be completed for the highly anticipated directorial venture of Vetri Maaran, “Viduthalai 2.” Concurrently, the director is actively engaged in overseeing the post-production process for the film.

Fans eagerly anticipate official confirmations on these release dates, anticipating a festival season filled with blockbuster entertainment. With filming wrapped up for some and post-production in full swing for others, the stage is set for a thrilling showdown at the box office. However, until official announcements are made, audiences will have to wait in anticipation for further updates on these highly anticipated releases.
