Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan’s Jaw-Dropping Transformation in ‘Kalki 2898 AD Trailer

The anticipation for the upcoming sci-fi epic film Kalki 2898 AD has reached a fever pitch, especially after the trailer’s release on 10th June, which showcased Kamal Haasan’s breathtaking transformation as a villainous look. It is reported his role is Kaali, the film’s main antagonist.

Directed by Nag Ashwin and produced by Vyjayanthi Movies, this Telugu-Hindi film promises to be a landmark in Indian cinema boasting a stellar cast including Prabhas, Deepika Padukone and Amitabh Bachchan. The movie is set to hit theaters on June 27, 2024.

Kalki 2898 AD is set in a nightmarish future where society is on the brink of collapse. Kamal Haasan’s said character, Kaali emerges as a chilling figure in this setting. The trailer reveals Kaali ensuring a dying society’s citizens not to fear after he foresees the birth of Kalki, the last and tenth avatar of the Hindu deity Vishnu. Kamal’s makeover, reminiscent of Gollum from “Lord of the Rings” and other iconic Hollywood sci-fi characters has left fans in awe. 

Kamal Haasan is renowned for his remarkable ability to portray multiple characters, as evidenced by his unforgettable performance in Dasavatharam where he played 10 different roles and as a nanny in Avvai Shanmugi. This extraordinary talent has consistently expanded his fanbase, earning him the title of Ulaganayagan. After many years, fans are eagerly anticipating his return to such roles. However, in Kalki 2898 AD the excitement has reached new heights as Kamal’s appearance hints at a villainous character. In his short appearance in the trailer, it took a moment to recognize him due to his transformation into an old, bald man with wrinkles covering his face.

The Plot Unveiled

The narrative centers on Padma played by Deepika Padukone, who is pregnant and destined to give birth to Vishnu’s Kalki avatar in the world’s first and last city, Kaashi. The legendary Amitabh Bachchan plays Ashwatthama tasked with protecting Padma and her unborn child. Prabhas portrays Bhairava, a self-centered yet skilled bounty hunter accompanied by his cool AI vehicle, Bujji voiced by Keerthy Suresh. The story delves into the entangled lives of these characters as they face off against the villains who have set a bounty on Padma and her unborn child.

Kamal Hassan In Kalki

Kamal Haasan’s performance as Kaali is believed to be one of the film’s highlights. His character, wrapped in darkness and making terrifying predictions about the entrance of a new world, sets the stage for an epic fight between good and evil. The legendary actors commitment to the job, as seen by his spectacular makeover and fierce performance, has already created a buzz.

Stellar Cast and Production

Apart from the leading trio, the film also features Tamil actors Pasupathy and Shobana in pivotal roles. In the trailer Disha Patani is also seen to playing a role in it. The music is composed by Santhosh Narayanan which adds to the film’s grandeur. Kalki 2898 AD is set to release in multiple languages including Malayalam and Kannada ensuring a wide reach across different audiences.
