EMI Music Malaysia Rejoices in Zubir Khan And Ezra Kairo’s “OMK (Oh My Kadhale)” Triumphs

On 13th June 2024, EMI Music Malaysia held a press conference to celebrate the recent massive success of “OMK ( Oh My Kadhale)” by Ezra Kairo and Zubir Khan. The Managing Director Of Universal Music Malaysia Kim Lim and Head Of EMI Music Adib Hamdi were present at the press conference.  The event underscored the triumph of EMI artist Ezra Kairo, who collaborated with Zubir Khan and Mingaling on the popular track.

About OMK (Oh My Kadhale)

“OMK (Oh My Kadhale)” is a song that narrates the story of a man’s deep affection and love for his partner and his efforts to bring her happiness. The song is a blend of Malay and Tamil music genre and has quickly captivated audiences. Released on 17th May 2024, within just three weeks, it garnered 1.7 million views on YouTube, securing the number one spot on the platform’s music video charts. The song has also attracted over 400,000 listeners on Spotify.

The song’s success can be attributed to it’s unique blend of Malay and Tamil lyrics, which has struck a chord with a diverse audience. This fusion reflects Malaysia’s cultural tapestry where various ethnic group comes in one frame. “OMK (Oh My Kadhale)” exemplifies this blend, combining traditional rhythms and melodies from both cultures to create a harmonious and captivating piece of music.

EMI Music Malaysia’s commitment to promoting diverse musical talents is evident in their roster, which includes artists like Ezra Kairo, Irfan Haris and Nuha Bahrin. Ezra Kairo’s previous hits, such as “Anak Helang” and “Kinnara,” have already made a significant impact on the Malaysian music industry. His collaboration with Zubir Khan on “OMK (Oh My Kadhale)” further solidifies his status as a versatile and influential artist.

Ezra Kairo, expressed his pleasure with the overwhelming response by saying,

“I am very pleased with the response of the Malaysian people to the song “OMK (Oh My Kadhale)”. This song is written in Tamil and Malay. I am proud to deliver a song that unites people of various ethnicities”

Zubir Khan, known for his successful tracks like “Yennode Macha” and “Per Yenne Solle,” has once again demonstrated his ability to create music that resonates deeply with listeners. Zubir has highlighted the importance of this cultural fusion by saying,

The song OMK (Oh My Kadhale) is the only combination of Malay and Tamil songs that successfully got into the top of music charts in Malaysia. It has received warm reception from the Malay and Indian communities, making it more special. Hopefully, it can unite us from various backgrounds

The Team Of OMK (Oh My Kadhale)

The success of “OMK (Oh My Kadhale)” can be attributed to the dedicated efforts of a talented and diverse team. The song features the powerful vocals of artists Ezra Kairo and Zubir Khan, who also contributed as composers and lyricists. They were joined by composers Mingaling and Lucidrari. Mingaling, who played a significant role as the arranger and producer, also handled the mix and mastering of the track. For the advanced Dolby Atmos mixing and mastering, Felix Voon lent his expertise enhancing the song’s auditory experience

The visually stunning and fun music video was directed by Isaac Mukesh and produced by It’s A Wrap Productions. Aswin Kumar Venugopal assisted in direction.

Choreography for the video was brilliantly executed by Herrvena and Logaraj, featuring a talented group of dancers including Sindu Ramasundran, Tuhina Saajal, Angeline Goh, Sharveen Kaur Sidhu, Anne Priyanka Anthony Rajan, Emylia Chu and Yeshillia Anandraj.

Supporting the project from EMI were team members Nadia, Haiqal, Asyeeqa, Syazwani, Amzar, Zulfareez, Nurin, Ain, and Amira. Their collective efforts ensured that “OMK (Oh My Kadhale)” not only became a musical hit but also a visual and cultural phenomenon, highlighting the harmonious blend of Malay and Tamil influences.
