Beginning on July 1, Malaysians who apply for an e-Tourist visa to India will be awarded a 30-day visa without having to pay a charge.

The Indian High Commission in Kuala Lumpur announced on Saturday that Malaysians would receive a 30-day e-Tourist visa with double access for free (no visa fees) for a year, starting on July 1, 2024, and ending on June 30, 2025.

“The existing rules and guidelines for e-Tourist visas and other e-visas will continue in effect, as described on the official website.

This is a fee-only offer valid only for the 30-day e-Tourist visa. The regular fees will still apply to other e-visa categories, such as e-Business, e-Conference, e-Medical, e-Medical Attendant, e-Ayush, and e-Emergency X Miscellaneous visas.

The commission stated that the standard paper visa fees will still need to be paid by individuals who choose to obtain their visas through the commission directly or through external service providers.

Previously, the typical online fee for an e-tourist visa was approximately RM 465.

From December 1, 2023, to December 31, 2023, bearers of Indian passports are permitted admission into Malaysia for a maximum of 30 days without the need for a visa.
