14 Roads in Kuala Lumpur to be Closed on July 20, 2024 for King’s Coronation

On Saturday, July 20, 2024, the police will temporarily close 14 roads in Kuala Lumpur to facilitate the installation of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim as the 17th Yang di-Pertuan Agong at Istana Negara. Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Rusdi Isa announced that these closures will be in effect from 8am to 8pm to ensure a smooth flow of traffic for guests attending the coronation and associated events.

The roads are:

  • Jalan Tun Razak
  • Jalan Kia Peng
  • Jalan Raja Chulan
  • Jalan Ampang
  • Jalan Sultan Ismail
  • Lebuhraya Sultan Iskandar
  • Jalan Tuanku Abdul Halim
  • Jalan Semantan
  • Jalan Damansara
  • Jalan Istana
  • Kuala Lumpur-Seremban Expressway
  • Jalan Kuching (south-bound)
  • Dato Onn roundabout
  • Jalan Parlimen

Rusdi stated that 387 traffic officers will be assigned to escort VIPs and manage traffic to ensure the coronation proceeds smoothly. He advised motorists to use alternative routes on the day to avoid traffic congestion. Rusdi also urged drivers to adhere to the instructions given by police personnel at the affected locations.
