Dhanush’s 50th movie promises to be a memorable milestone in his illustrious career. Titled “Raayan,” this film is a testament to his multifaceted talent as he takes on the roles of writer, director, and lead actor. Set to hit screens on 26th July 2024, the recently released trailer has already captivated audiences. The intense and gritty world of “Raayan” promises a gripping tale filled with drama and violence, making it a highly anticipated release.
“Raayan” revolves around the story of a simple man who becomes entangled in the dangerous world of crime and manipulation after a series of tragic events. The trailer opens with a wounded Raayan, blood streaming down his body, as a family member pours water over his head. This scene transitions to Dhanush’s brother, Selvaraghavan, portraying a character who imparts a crucial lesson to a young Raayan: “The most dangerous animal in the jungle is not the lion or the tiger but rather the wolf.” He elaborates, “In a one-on-one fight, the lion would defeat the wolf. However, wolves are cunning. They hunt in packs, surround the lion, and then destroy it.” This metaphor suggests that Dhanush’s character embodies the lion, while SJ Suryah or Saravanan represents the wolf. In the film, SJ Suryah takes on the role of the antagonist.
The intense trailer is filled with violent scenes and stunts, suggesting that “Raayan” might be Dhanush’s most violent film since “Vada Chennai.” The trailer also portrays Dhanush as an ordinary man during a conversation with a police officer, showcasing a different aspect of his character. Towards the end, he reappears in a relentless killing spree, accompanied by Sundeep Kishan and Kalidas Jayaram. The trailer concludes with AR Rahman’s melodious tune “Usurey Neethane.” Rahman’s musical score is both subtle and powerful, building to a breathtaking crescendo in the final 15 seconds. This scene features three siblings walking alone, with the eldest carrying a baby, possibly representing Dhanush and his siblings.
Om Prakash’s stunning visuals and Prasanna GK’s captivating editing further enhance the trailer’s impact. “Raayan” boasts an impressive star cast, featuring Dhanush, SJ Suryah, Prakash Raj, Selvaraghavan, Sundeep Kishan, Kalidas Jayaram, Dushara Vijayan, Aparna Balamurali, Varalakshmi Sarathkumar, Saravanan, and more. The film is produced by Sun Pictures and has received an ‘A’ certificate from the censor board, with a runtime of 2 hours and 25 minutes.
With its gritty and intense narrative, “Raayan” promises to be a thrilling experience for fans, highlighting Dhanush in one of his most formidable roles. The trailer has already heightened anticipation, offering a glimpse of the film’s gripping storyline and dynamic performances. Adding to the excitement, DMY Creation has secured the distribution rights for “Raayan” in Malaysia.
