Step into the enchanting world of Kathak, where rhythm intertwines with narrative in a captivating performance that mirrors the ebb and flow of nature’s eternal cycle. TFA INNER SPACE DANCE is delighted to present “Ritu Mahyafil,” a full-length Kathak performance enriched with live music. This captivating event will take place on August 1st and 2nd, 2024, 8pm at the prestigious Shantanand Auditorium at the Temple of Fine Arts in Brickfields. Prepare to be enchanted by a spellbinding display of artistry and grace.

TFA Inner Space Dance (ISD), led by Umesh Shetty, a distinguished figure in dance and arts education, is committed to the practice, learning, creative choreography, composition, and performance of dance. Shetty, who also serves as a director at the Temple of Fine Arts (TFA) and a lecturer at the National Academy of Arts Culture and Heritage (ASWARA), directs ISD’s mission to merge classical arts with contemporary styles. The organization aims to cultivate a profound connection to Indian cultural roots while integrating global artistic influences. ISD prioritizes innovation, explores diverse art forms, and collaborates with both local and international artists.

Under the visionary direction of Choreographer Paramita Maitra, “Ritu Mahyafil” transcends traditional boundaries, delving into the essence of each season through the evocative rhythms and narratives of Kathak. Experience the passionate tales of love in Summer, the melancholic elegance of Autumn’s falling leaves, the serene beauty and resilience of Winter’s frost, and the joyous renewal brought by Spring’s blossoms.

“Ritu Mahyafil” is a tribute to the rich cultural heritage of Kathak, artfully combining music composed by Chandrachur Bhattacharjee with the elegant movements and expressive storytelling inherent to this classical dance form. This performance promises a sensory delight, transcending traditional boundaries by fusing elements from the Mughal era with modern interpretations. Audiences can anticipate an unforgettable evening of artistic excellence, where historical richness meets contemporary creativity, resulting in a captivating display of Kathak’s beauty and depth.

“We are thrilled to present ‘Ritu Mahyafil,’ where the essence of each season is vividly portrayed through the language of Kathak. This production not only showcases the versatility and emotional depth of our dancers but also celebrates universal themes such as nature’s beauty and the passage of time, encapsulating the splendor of the Mughal era,” said Umesh Shetty, Artistic Director of TFA Inner Space Dance.
