There is a saying that goes, “ Love and kindness are never wasted. They always make a difference. They bless the one who receives them, and they bless you, the giver.” by Barbara De Angelis.

During this pandemic, we continue to witness ordinary Malaysians coming from diverse groups of ethnicities extending a helping hand to assist those in need. Apart from losing their jobs, our citizens are going hungry, and thank God, there are many good souls who are selflessly helping those in this crucial time of need.

Raashi Kitchen has been providing food for the needy since early this year. Raman Rajagopal, the owner of Raashi Kitchen, believes that no one should go hungry, so he started this noble endeavour.

He began by spreading the word via Whatsapp that served only 40 people a day, now he serves nearly 300 people on a daily basis.

His efforts are primarily motivated by Satya Sai Baba, a well-known Hindu guru. According to the guru, “the gift of food to the hungry is the noblest of all gifts.”

Raashi Kitchen in Subang Jaya provides free food to many people, including single mothers, OKUs, and charity homes. He stated that for the time being, he provides food to four charity homes.

80% of what he cooks in his kitchen is donated to charity, and each pack of free meals contains a serving of rice, chicken, egg, and two types of vegetables for a total cost of RM10.

His paying customers as well as his own pocket money are used to provide for the needy part of the charity. Not only that, but some people have volunteered their time to be a part of this initiative.

They willingly assist Raman in distributing the free meal around because all they want is for others to benefit from this charity.

According to The Star, Raashi Kitchen has distributed 20,000 packs of free food as of 20th June, and the owner hopes to distribute 200 thousand packs of free food to the needy by the end of the year.

What we can do as good Samaritans is to support this type of business, so that they can increase their income and provide more for this charity. If you want to be a part of this wonderful initiative, please contact them at 012-6770505. Many vulnerable people will benefit from your assistance.
