Parents have been advised by the health ministry to monitor the health of their children from a new inflammatory disorder associated with COVID-19, proven to be fatal.

Pediatric multisystem inflammatory syndrome (MIS-C), also known as pediatric multisystem inflammatory syndrome temporally associated to SARS CoV-2, is a multisystem inflammatory illness in children.

COVID-19 infection in children causes MIS-C, which is one of the most dangerous disorders. This MIS-C can be dangerous despite its rarity.

Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, Health Director-General, said on February 19th that the MIS-C Malaysia Study Group had recorded 174 cases of the syndrome, with 57% of them involving children aged 5 to 11.

According to him, the research found seven deaths as a result of MIS-C, accounting for 4% of all cases.

If your children begin to show symptoms of multi-system inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C), parents are encouraged to seek treatment immediately.

According to Dr S. Selva Kumar, Consultant Paediatrician and Paediatric Nephrologist from Selayang Hospital said fever, red eyes, rashes, vomiting, stomach ache, and diarrhoea are among the symptoms.

Dr Selva stated, symptoms normally appear two to six weeks after a child is infected with COVID-19.

In a short video uploaded by Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin, Dr Selva explained that MIS-C problems affect various internal organs, including the heart, lungs, brain, and kidneys.

In the same video, Khairy urged parents to register their children to get vaccinated against COVID-19 and other dangerous MIS-C risks.

He addressed the matter due to an increase in COVID-19 hospital admissions among children.

“We are concerned about people who have not been vaccinated during this Omicron wave, particularly the elderly and children,” Khairy continued.

Through his Facebook page, Dr. Hisham advises all parents to get the COVID-19 vaccine for their children aged 5 to 11 years old as soon as possible. This Comirnaty vaccine for children is made using a safe formulation and dosage that is ideal for children of that age.

Don’t put it off any longer and have your children vaccinated right away.

Let’s work together to keep your kids safe from the dangers of COVID-19.
