Sudha Kongara, renowned for her exceptional work in South Indian cinema with films like ‘Irudhi Suttru’ and ‘Soorarai Pottru’, is gearing up to direct her next project titled ‘Purananooru’. Originally, the film was set to feature Suriya in the lead role and is reportedly a period drama inspired by the 1965 anti-Hindi movement in Tamil Nadu.
However, Suriya has since left the project for unknown reasons. Despite this challenge, Sudha Kongara is committed to continuing with ‘Purananooru’ and is reportedly considering Sivakarthikeyan as a replacement for the lead role.
According to new reports, Lokesh Kanagaraj has agreed to star in ‘Purananooru’, marking Sivakarthikeyan’s 25th film. Sources indicate that Kanagaraj will take on this acting role after finishing his current project, ‘Coolie’, as ‘Purananooru’ is still in the early stages of development.
Lokesh Kanagaraj, a highly acclaimed filmmaker in the Tamil film industry, recently made cameo appearances in RJ Balaji’s ‘Singapore Saloon’ and Shruti Haasan’s latest music video ‘Inimel’. Although there have been numerous rumors about his possible debut as a full-fledged actor, none have come to fruition so far.
While some insiders suggest that Lokesh’s role in ‘Purananooru’ might be limited to a cameo, others speculate that he could be taking on a major role, possibly stepping into a character initially intended for Dulquer Salmaan. Although this information is unconfirmed, it has created a lot of excitement on social media. GV Prakash will be composing the film’s music.
