Two flights from Malaysia and Dubai, initially scheduled to land in Chennai, were diverted to Bengaluru due to poor visibility caused by fog and administrative reasons.
An Air Asia flight from Kuala Lumpur, scheduled to arrive in Chennai in the morning, was rerouted to Bengaluru. Upon arrival in Bengaluru, the pilot took a mandatory rest period after completing their duty hours. The 152 passengers were accommodated in the airport’s waiting lounge. The flight departed Bengaluru and returned to Chennai at 11pm on Wednesday. Subsequently, the outbound flight to Kuala Lumpur faced a delay of over 16 hours, finally taking off at 12.15am on Thursday.
On other hand, an Emirates flight from Dubai, with 264 passengers on board, was diverted to Bengaluru on Wednesday morning. Following that, the return flight from Chennai to Dubai was delayed by over three hours. Normally scheduled to depart at 9.50am, the flight took off at 1.20pm on Wednesday.
Notably, flight services have been consistently disrupted over the past week due to heavy rains brought by Cyclone Bensil. Malaysians with flights scheduled to Chennai are advised to stay updated on the latest flight information and be prepared for potential delays or diversions. Given the ongoing disruptions caused by Cyclone Bensil, passengers are encouraged to check with their airlines for real-time updates and make necessary travel adjustments to avoid inconvenience.
