The highly anticipated movie Pushpa 2: The Rule was released worldwide yesterday (5 December). While many are celebrating and enjoying the film, it has turned into a tragedy for a family in Hyderabad who attended the movie’s premiere at Sandhya Theatre on Wednesday night (4 December).

The family was caught in a stampede incident during the premiere, resulting in the death of a 35-year-old mother, identified as Revathi, while her nine-year-old son remains in critical condition.

The tragedy unfolded when fans gathered to catch a glimpse of actor Allu Arjun, who arrived at the theatre with his personal security team around 9:30 pm without prior notice.

Upon learning of the actor’s presence, hundreds of fans flocked to the premises, causing chaos.

The situation worsened when the actor’s security team attempted to control the crowd by pushing them back.

Subsequently, the crowd, along with Allu Arjun and his security team, moved towards the lower balcony area of the theatre.

To prevent further escalation, the police closed the gates and called in additional reinforcements to manage the situation. A lathi charge was also carried out to disperse the attendees.

Responding to the incident, Sarath Chandra Naidu, also known as Bunny Vasu, a producer and close associate of the actor, described it as an unfortunate event.

He assured that he and his team are committed to addressing the matter.

We are extremely heartbroken by the tragic incident during last night’s screening. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and the young child undergoing medical treatment.

We are committed to standing by them and extending all possible support during this difficult time.…

However, Allu Arjun himself has yet to comment on the incident.

Meanwhile, a police case has been registered against Allu Arjun, his security team, and the theatre’s management.

The security team and the theatre’s management have been charged under sections 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and 118(1) (voluntarily causing hurt or grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
