Recap 2024: Top 5 Highest-Grossing Malaysian Tamil Films of the Year

Malaysian Tamil films have made a significant impact on the entertainment industry in Malaysia. This year, several Malaysian Tamil films captured the audience’s attention with their engaging stories and performances. In this article, we highlight the top 5 highest-grossing Malaysian Tamil films of 2024.

     1. C4 Cinta

‘C4 Cinta’, directed by Karthik Shaamalan, hit the screens nationwide on November 21, 2024. Even before its release, the film generated significant buzz and anticipation. The movie features an ensemble cast, including Yuvaraj Krishnasamy, Pashini, Ravin Rao Santheran, Santeinii Chandra Bos, Vijay Naidu, Loga Varman, Tivagaran, Dishaaleny Jack, KS Maniam, and many others. The film explores themes of love, relationships, and friendship, delving into the complexities of romantic relationships that often go unspoken. Shameshan Mani Maran’s powerful background music and soulful soundtrack added depth to the emotions conveyed by the story.

‘C4 Cinta’ has earned RM 2.4 million, making it the highest-grossing Malaysian Tamil film of all time in Malaysia. Notably, the film is still playing in cinemas.      2. Kathe Ille Pathukalam

Kathe Ille Pathukalam, the debut film of prominent singers Havoc Naven and Havoc Mathan, also known as the Havoc Brothers, marked both their directorial and acting debut. The film turned out to be a successful venture, depicting the Malaysian Indian experience and lifestyle. A blend of thriller and comedy, it starred Havoc Mathan, Havoc Naven, Vanessa Cruez, Thiyagu B, Meethi, Guna Max, and many others. The movie earned RM 619,479.49 at the box office.

     3. Oru Kadha Sollatta Sir

Oru Kadha Sollatta Sir, directed by Kash Villanz, was well-received by audiences upon its release this year. The horror film featured Kash Villanz in the lead role, along with an ensemble cast including Vikadakavi Magen, C Kumaresan (CK), Ben G, Sathia, Moon Nila, Thivya Naidu, and others. The music for the film was also composed by Kash Villanz. The movie earned RM 385,751.41 at the box office.

      4. Vijay LL.B

Vijay LL.B, directed by M. Mathialagan, is another notable film released this year. The movie stars popular radio announcer Uthaya, Kannan Raajamanickam, Ashraf Navaghani, and others. It tells the story of a young lawyer fighting for justice in a world where power, money, and manipulation are the key players. The film successfully earned RM 99,050.45 at the box office.

      5. Black and White

Black and White was the first Malaysian Tamil film released this year, hitting the screens on January 18, 2024. Directed by acclaimed actor Logan, the movie stars Logan, Sasi Kumar, Seelan Manoheran, Latha Ramasamy, and others. A comedy film, it revolves around the story of two friends. The film successfully earned RM 98,744.84 at the box office.
