In a heartwarming gesture of Pongal, over 4000 Tamil residents in Sungai Buloh parliamentary distinct were given Pongal kits under the Semarak Kasih Pongal (Magilchi Pongal) programme. This annual initiative, now in its second year, aims to bring festive cheer to the B40 community.

A Festival Of Prosperity And Unity

Sungai Buloh Member Of Parliament Datuk Seri Ramanan, who also serves as the Deputy Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Minister shared his warm wishes for the festival.

“The Indian community in Malaysia will welcome the month of Thai this Tuesday, marking a fresh start,” he said. “I take this opportunity to wish everyone Pongal Vaalthukal and hope this festival brings prosperity, well-being, and happiness.”

The programme was organized in collaboration with the Sungai Buloh People’s Welfare Association, local community leaders from Gugusan Kantan, Kekwa, Kemboja, Tanjung, and Cempaka apartments, and the Sungai Buloh parliamentary service centre.
Highlighting the festival’s deeper meaning, Ramanan urged the Indian community to embrace the spirit of ‘Nambikei’ (confidence) to achieve greater success.

Ramanan also emphasized the importance of unity and mutual understanding among all Malaysians, aligning with the Malaysia Madani vision under Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

A Commitment to Uplifting the Community

As part of the government’s ongoing efforts to empower the Indian community, Ramanan promised good news during Pongal celebrations.

“The Madani government is firmly committed to fulfilling the aspirations of the Indian community, as demonstrated by the seven initiatives rolled out in 2024 under the Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Ministry,” he said.

These initiatives reflect the government’s dedication to uplifting the economic prospects and well-being of the Indian community, ensuring they share in Malaysia’s growth and prosperity.

The distribution of Pongal kits brought smiles to families in the Sungai Buloh constituency, symbolizing the festival’s essence of gratitude, renewal, and togetherness. Residents appreciated the thoughtful gesture that underscores the community spirit in celebrating this important harvest festival.

As Malaysians prepare to celebrate Pongal, this initiative serves as a reminder of the importance of unity, compassion, and shared traditions in fostering a stronger and more inclusive society.
