The Malaysia Indian Transformation Unit (MITRA) has allocated RM25 million under the IPT Early Entry Assistance Program MITRA (IPT 4.0 MITRA) to benefit 12,400 students from the B40 Indian community in 2024. This initiative aims to provide financial support to the students entering public and private institutions of higher learning, easing financial burdens and ensuring greater access to education

MITRA received a total of 12, 626 applications within the specified application period. However, after a thorough screen process, only 8791 students were eligible to receive the IPT 4.0 MITRA financial assistance. The selection process was based on strict eligibility criteria to ensure that only students in genuine need of financial aid received the support.

Applicants who were not considered for assistance totaled 3835. Their applications were not accepted due to various reasons, including failing to meet the mandatory requirements, not belonging to the B40 category, being in their 3rd or 4th year of their studies, or enrolling in programmes apart from Diploma or Bachelors Degree courses.

The approved students will receive a one-off financial assistance payment, which will be disbursed in phases through Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN). This phased disbursement is intended to ensure a smooth and a systematic payment process, allowing eligible students to manage their education expenses effectively.

MITRA urged students to check their eligibility status through the MITRA portal starting 14th March. Students who qualify for the assistance should ensure that they have provided accurate banking details to facilitate the smooth and seamless transfer of funds.
