Acclaimed Tamil filmmaker Lokesh Kangaraj, known for directing his high-octane blockbuster films such as Kaithi, Master, Vikram, and Leo, is reportedly stepping into a new journey by being in front of the camera. Reports suggest that Lokesh is set to make his debut as a lead actor in a film directed by Captain Miller fame Arun Matheswaran.
According to reports, the collaboration between the two directors marks a fresh phase in both their careers. Arun, who was initially expected to helm the much anticipated Ilaiyaraaja biopic, is believed to gave shifted gears toward this new untitled project with Lokesh in the lead. While no officially statement has been made by either of them, the buzz surrounding the project has fans of both directors eager for the confirmation.
This is not the first appearance for Lokesh. He previously made a brief cameo in Master, and also featured in a music video ‘Inimel’, along with Shruti Haasan and penned by Kamal Haasan. However, this new project would mark his debut in a full fledged acting role, which many see as an exciting twist in his creative journey.
Meanwhile, on the directorial front, Lokesh is also working on his next major release, ‘Coolie’ starring Superstar Rajinikanth. The action packed film boasts an ensemble cast that includes Nagarjuna Akkineni, Upendra Rao, Shruti Haasan, Shoubin Shahid, and Sathyaraj among others. Coolie is scheduled to release on 14th August 2025.
As Lokesh prepares for a high stake release and a potential acting debut with Arun Matheswaran, his fans can look forward to a unique filmmaker led collaboration, this time with the director stepping into his acting debut as the lead hero.
