A total of 22 million Malaysians aged 18 and above can now check their eligibility for the Sumbangan Asas Rahman (SARA) financial assistance through the official portal (Click Here), the Ministry of Finance (MoF) announced.
In a statement, the MoF said that all MyKad holders born in 2007 or earlier are entitled to the aid, including existing SARA recipients. Importantly, no registration or application is required, as eligibility is automatically verified using National Registration Department (NRD) records.

The ministry cautioned the public against scams, emphasising that the RM100 credit will be disbursed directly into recipients, MyKad accounts starting 31st August, in conjunction with National Day, and can be used until 31st December.
To ensure fair distribution of the nation’s resources, any unspent balance at the end of the year will be redirected to vulnerable groups through upcoming MADANI Government programmes.

Recipients can utilise the credit to purchase over 100,000 essential items across 14 categories, including rice, eggs, medicines, school supplies, hygiene products, and personal care items. The assistance can be redeemed at more than 7,300 participating retail outlets nationwide, with the number expected to expand further.
The MoF also noted that households collectively stand to benefit more. For example, a family of four adults, parents and two children aged 18 or above, would be eligible for RM400 in total credits. Recipients may also choose to use the aid for charitable purposes, such as buying essential goods for donation to NGOs, houses of worship, or other community causes.
With the rollout of SARA, the combined allocation for the Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) and SARA programmes will increase to RM15 billion in 2025, a 50% rise from the RM10 billion set aside in 2024.
