The Selangor government has announced that Form Six students in the state will soon benefit from the RM200 Kita Selangor book voucher scheme, previously limited to university-bound students.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the extension aims to ease the financial burden of students preparing for higher education, with distribution expected by October or before the end of this year.

“We will assess the number of students eligible for the voucher, based on Selangor education department data.Despite considerable demand, the voucher was previously given only to Selangor students through the Selangor Students Association”,he said after presenting the 2025 Sixth Form First Semester School Aid (BAP) in Shah Alam.

Also present at the event was Education Ministry secretary-general Datuk Dr Aminuddin Hassim. A total of RM894,750 in BAP will be channeled to 5965 Form Six students across Pre-University Colleges and Centres in Selangor.

Dr Amirudin added that RM400,000 has been allocated for this year’s vouchers, with an increased amount to be included under the 2026 Selangor Budget. He stressed that the scheme not only helps students buy additional reading materials but also reflects the state’s ongoing commitment to education.

“Education remains a top priority for the state government and this commitment will be reflected in the largest financial allocation in next year’s budget.”

Earlier, Dr Amirudin also presented RM1,000 contributions to 15 top Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) students, from Selangor, recognising their outstanding academic achievements.
