Malaysia’s leading singles shuttler K. Letshanaa take on the responsibility of opening the contest agains China’s Han Qian Xi, marking a significant test for the world top-40 player. Despite showing early composure and competitiveness in the opening game, Letshanaa was eventually outpaced by her opponent, going down 21-18, 21-10 as the Chinese shuttler raised the intensity in the second game.

The result underlined the demanding level of competition at the continental stage, with Letshanaa finding it difficult to maintain momentum once the rallies lengthened and pressure mounted. Nevertheless, her selection as Malaysia’s first singles player reflected the team’s confidence in their recent progress.
Malaysia’s challenge continued to face resistance in the first doubles match where Ong Xin Yee and Carmen Ting struggled to match their higher ranked Chinese players, conceding the tie 21-10, 21-8.
Hopes of a turnaround then rested on Wong Ling Ching, who had arrived in Qingdao on the back of a semifinal finish at the Thailand Masters. However, she too was unable to break through, losing in straight games to Xu Wen Jing, as China tightened their grip on the encounter.

Malaysia avoided a whitewash thanks to a spirited performance in the second doubles, with Low Zi Yu and Nur Aqilah Maisarah Ramdan producing the team’s sole point after a fighting 13–21, 21–18, 21–17 victory over a higher-ranked Chinese pair, offering a rare bright spot in an otherwise challenging tie.
Despite the defeat, Malaysia had already sealed a quarter-final berth, as Group W featured only two teams. For Letshanaa, the match served as a valuable benchmark against elite opposition as she continues her rise in women’s singles, with the knockout rounds offering another opportunity to translate experience into performance.
Malaysia will now await their quarter-final draw, with the team aiming to finish among the top four and secure automatic qualification for the Uber Cup Finals, a milestone last achieved in 2022.
